Mine also needs unclamping and twisting but I haven't got round to that yet.
No, the Italians are as bad as the French. It seems that from a nationality perspective you can either have cars which are fun to drive (French/Italian) or cars with quality build (German/Swedish/Jap) - but not both!
I've had an Impreza and a Celica as well as Alfas and the Clio....... and the...
Seen this car the last two Saturday mornings parked outside HBOS at Lovell Park - does the owner work there? Looks OK actually and has a 172-something sticker in the side window.
So he's pulled halfway out of the side road and sat across your path on a blind brow waiting for a gap in the traffic coming in the opposite direction?? Gotta be him at fault if it's really a blind brow. If it's not and you were going too fast for the conditions then it might be different...
Mine's been doing it in cold weather for 12 months + now. No other battery problems other than occasional slow starting very recently in v. cold temps.

They are also one of the main mechanical parts to get wet when driving in wet weather and will dry out an awful lot quicker by getting hoy (used) than being left to circulating air to dry. Especially given the shite quality of steel they are obviously made of.
I have an Alfasud, I know all...
Ah...
My trip keeps resetting, and I *think* it's beginning to take an extra half turn of the starter to catch.... Did you have any less obvious symptoms prior to it not starting?
