Should be a vacuum line attached to the throttle body which it sounds like has split or come loose. Am new to these engines so not 100% sure on the location but that would be my first point of checking.
Not had my Clio 172 cup long and I've had my moments in early ownership of letting her go for something else or sticking with it. I'm feeling more toward keeping but I have an issue with the car cruising at 70mph and the droning from the exhaust. I've put some carpet in the spare wheel well and...
I have a 172 cup with a ktec stealth super sport with centre box and also 40mm lowered. I also have a decat and mine drones in the front to the point where I'm trying to find some sound proofing I can put down in the front to reduce the noise. Apparently in the rear with a carpeted boot and...
Finally sorted her so she's back on the road and all legal. Drives well enough but the exhaust rear hanger needs sorted properly as you can hear it knocking as it moves.
The car does seem to have a "hum" at between 40mph and 60mph but only seems to be there slowing down. Thinking more something...
Bringing this back slightly- Is there any difference between a 172 Cup H/L brake light and a lower spec one? (ie could I use one from a 1.2 or another version of RS?) And anyone got a part number?
Quickie again here.
Been to a scrap yard today and acquired a new boot carpet and new parcel shelf so now have a parcel shelf with 6x9 speaker holes cut in if anyone is interested? Wire brushed the engine top and it looks so much nicer. Used G6 paste on the headlights so now they're clean and...
Okay so little update on the car- final list of things it needs done is quite small tbh.
It needs a tyre, maybe 2 fitted.
Check gearbox oil level and top up if needed.
High level brake light doesn't work.
Replace parcel shelf and find a boot floor carpet/liner (existing shelf has 6x9 holes cut...
Not sure if this is the right section but on a receipt for my Clio it states the fuel filter was bypassed when they went to change it at last service.
Anyone heard of this being done and will it effect the car in any way? Used to be turbo'd but now running a standard 2.0 172 engine I believe if...
Anyone give me an idea of value for my Clio (Not looking to sell but just so I know I'm not selling myself short for insurance value with mods)
03 172 Cup, no dents or scratches at all, small hole on side bolster of drivers seat, MOT until May 2016, part history which is recent, 115200miles...
Morning folks,
Went and bought my first Clio 172 Cup yesterday. It was for sale at a local garage as a trade in cheap. Autotrader valuation put it at £1400 nearly for age and miles, although the car does need some jobs done to make it "right". But for the money, I figured it was worth a punt...
Looking good. Picking mine up Friday all being well and posts like this keep me wishing it was Friday :grimacing: Any suggestions on things to look out for when I do pick it up mate?
No worries lads. So should be looking at about £400 to £450 for belts done then?
Just waiting for an insurance payout ATM before I can collect it so end of the week I hope.
Bit of an update on this.
Got my pal to have a look for me once he got back from running his 172 on the Nurburgring.
Issues he could see were just 2 tyres and tracking, lack of history and the dephaser rattling. However he did say he's heard a lot worse and the videos make it sound 10x worse...
Belts to my knowledge would have been changed in the past 2 years according to a previous owner who changed the engine.
So general consensus is keep looking?
Rest of the videos I took when I was having a look finally loaded-
£800. Could I sort the bits and pieces first like tyre, engine mount and then put the money for the belts together over a few months? I've read a few threads on a few websites where nobody seems to know of a dephaser actually letting go, just rattle their tits off alot.
morning boys and girls
I'm looking at buying my first RS Clio. A 172 cup. The car used to be running a turbo conversion but this has long been removed. I'm just wondering if it's worth buying as it is cheap but it also does need work doing and I know very little about these cars.
It has 115k...
