Oh yeah that too! I don't follow motortrend because they put out too much that I don't like. Really can't work out how Finnegan can get away with all his own merch on Roadkill.
Hammerite is pretty good at not leaving brush marks, the subframe I did with it didn't have any brush marks at all.
@SamHowell , Tom said yours looked good and was done with a brush.
I looked at getting a spray gun and doing mine but the materials and making sure the airlines are totally dry...
Oh it's so painful. Amazing fab work though

Thanks Dan. Much quicker to take out than put back, torquing everything up correctly took an age.
Thanks everyone for all the likes too.
No interesting pictures today I'm afraid as after all the work the car looks absolutely identical.
In the end I swapped the whole 182 front subframe set up...
I haven't read it all but I used to work for an insurance company. When the car that caused the accident wasn't insured the claim would go through the MIB under the insurer which last had that car insured according to MID. We used to just go through MID with older and older dates until we found...
Certainly will matey. It's likely going to be something at the weekend as it's difficult to get time off work before September :'(
I should really write this update later when the car is running but my energy to finish the job is low this morning so I'd rather sit here while the mcdonalds...
I'm swapping the engine in my car in a few days and wanted to paint up a few things as I go. Planned on using hammerite for the box and engine enamel for the block.
Two questions
What's best for the rest of the mounts/inlets etc.
How best to prep them as halfords paint wipes don't cut the mustard
I've just had exactly the same thought as this. To command any high figure it needs to be totally standard and be extremely low mileage and even then it's not a collectors car and never will fly up in value like the v6 or limited edition performance cars.
This is usually a wiring fault between the pedal and the ECU, there are 2 intermediate connection blocks. White one in the fusebox which is suceptable to water and the bulkhead connector which is usually OK.
Yeah that's the plan now. After speaking to EFI about their ECU virginisation and copying the ECU I've been on CLIP this afternoon and found I can just reconfigure the UCH to not look for the ABS and Steering wheel angle sensor. That's the plan now to just swap the whole ECU kit over. Will...
Afternoon chaps
Wanting to put my 182 cammed engine in my 172 cup for use over the summer and have some questions regarding the map as I don't want to have a custom map. Yes it's not ideal by any stretch of the imagination but it's a temporary thing before I get boost.
The 182 was mapped by...
Until you get the sump off you really can't tell. If you take the crank off you're looking at needing a new cambelt which straight away makes it more efficient to get a different engine with the belts already done.
You'd have the machine shop measure the crank journals to see if they're in spec.
Those seats look comfy!
For the harnesses have a read of this http://www.msar.co.uk/pdf/UsersGuideRacingHarness.pdf
The rears have to be wrapped around the bar, the other way looks like is could twist the belt and cause horrible angles on your back in an impact. The lower mounting points...
Morning chaps.
Got a niggling issue with the EPAS on my track car which I want to get sorted before booking any track time.
The steering in the centre is extremely light and twitchy no matter which setting I put the EPAS on. After this light centre bit the resistance appears to be normal (for...
