As subject really. I did, but it was easy because it was a day off work. Very unlikely that I will make it to the end of next week, never mind a year, but I've started! Thought I would put this up in case anyone was considering it but forgot already.
Main idea for me is to shoot something...
I want to go back, stick it on a tripod and do a long exposure shot from the same place at dusk, could look very cool, particularly with fast moving clouds.
Initially planned to ditch the Fisheye after New York in Feb and fund a new PC (mine is on its last legs), but having second thoughts...
Went down to Bournemouth today, sadly the weather was very dull/foggy so the pics are a little flat, but I took the new lens for a spin (Nikon 10.5 Fisheye and Sigma 20mm 1.8) and had lots of fun trying them out.
Obviously there are far more fisheye shots than I would normally want to take, but...
Super pics, I went last month for 24hrs but the weather was awful, really really want to go back, so many photo opportunities.
The Metro sign shot is my favourite, the carousel would have been another cracker but the power box thing detracts from it a little, maybe crop it out?
Surely that's the problem though, many suppliers only offer machines with Vista now, so if you are not blessed with the ability to build a PC (or if you want a Laptop) it's not exactly straightforward to obtain an XP based machine any more.
For the vast majority of the general public, Vista...
...or assuming the camera is nice and stable, just switch to MF and bump the Aperture up to about f16 or higher, pretty much everything will be in focus and any spot lights will appear as stars. AF at night is very hit and miss, I rarely use it.
This cropped up in another thread recently, I was looking at the Muffin Top but it was hard to find real life pics as it's quite new. Loads of reviews/pics of the Pretty Boys out there so I settled for one of those instead as they are still available.
I bought a Pretty Boy XXL just after...
We've got two almost identical Toshiba laptops, one with Vista, one with XP. The XP one has been faultless since day one, starts up quickly etc. The Vista one is a hell of a lot slower and has crashed a few times, and doesn't really do anything that the XP one can't, as far as I can tell.
Work...
SLR Zoom is the one I have, built like a tank, it's never 'drooped' on me despite putting some reasonably solid lens on it (Sigma 10-20, Sigma 20mm etc)
I've got the pockets evenly spread, D90 with 50mm in the centre, the 50-150 in one side, and the 20mm with the 10.5mm Fisheye sat on top on the other side. Then the Gorillapod sits on top, and all the accessories go in the front pocket.
Tight, but everything is easy to get at, with the...
Stunning, low number as well.
Any idea how many they've sold? Read that they've nearly ran out already, but that seems amazing considering the type of car it is and the current economic climate. I would love it to be true though, if this is successful I hope they do more bonkers things in the...
Got myself one of these bad boys today, Pretty Boy XXL, or "the tardis" as it's now affectionately known...
Holds the following...
- Nikon D90 with Nikon 50mm 1.8 attached
- Sigma 50-150 2.8 EX
- Sigma 20mm 1.8 EX
- Nikon 10.5mm 2.8 Fisheye
- Gorillapod SLR Zoom
- Filters...
Silly wide, no idea how it even gets past the built in hood to be honest. Point it down slightly and your feet and legs are in frame. I can stand in my living room, point the lens up (8ft ceiling, I'm 6ft) and get the entire ceiling in the frame easily.
To give you an idea, in my 3 test pics...
Ta da! Arrived just in time for Christmas. Nothing exciting to show as yet, but gave it a quick test around the house this morning...as expected, blown away. Already got 2 shots with my finger in the frame, and 3 or 4 with my legs and feet in it.
Product shot to show how tiny it is (probably...
I know, sooooo tempted! Thankfully my card was cancelled on Friday as somebody cloned it, so I don't receive my new one till Saturday or thereabouts, it's a blessing in disguise as I would literally be using my overdraft to fund it :)
My Sigma 20mm 1.8 just arrived from the Jessops Sale, it's...
Some bargains to be had, unusually. Particularly the lens sale which has some cracking deals...

If you happen to need a 1.4tc for a Canon you're laughing! Got myself a Sigma 20mm f1.8, much cheaper than anywhere...
Wouldn't have a clue how to shoot those things, but looks like good fun trying. Certainly lots of potential in #3.
By the by, your new Abi pics on Flickr are absolutely gorgeous, getting the hang of this 450D rather quickly!
Just looked at these on Flickr, very envious of your bravery! Great shots too (#1 and #3 being personal favourites), I guess the more time you spend doing it, the more 'moments' you will see.
Wandering around Bath is always entertaining, shame I'm not brave enough to take a camera and actually...
For hobbyists unless you are absolutely minted it's pointless. But I imagine - for example - Premiership football photographers (many of whom apparently use 400mm 2.8 and 80-200 2.8) the extra DoF the 2.8 gives you over f4 at those focal lengths is absolutely critical (not to mention the lower...
My other half gets Dell Laptops for her job, she has never had one that actually holds the correct time. It's not worth updating, as like you say, it's completely wrong again within hours.
Given up on it now, seems odd though.
