Cheers guys, always good to hear nice comments.
Not sure whos is quickest yet, gtis come with 120bhp standard and mine has been rr'd at 133 but having been for a serious blast in his i think his will easily match the valver for pace if not be quicker. His definately doesnt have as much grunt...
To celebrate the fact that after over one year of searching my mate finally found a mint 106 GTI, we gave them both a clean and went and took some pictures along with my rickety old bus. Heres a few of the nicer ones:

Thanks guys!
Appologies for amount again, i find it so hard to get rid of pics i like!
Really proud of the sunset ones, definately need a tripod though.
Looots of photos here so i appologise in advance, i tried to wittle them down but theres still a van full left.
Went up to a local place which is basically a big rock formation called the cow & calf, its good for some pics and is nice and high so you get some decent views. A few of us went up...
Why is this place a breeding ground for petty arguments?
There should be a disclaimer on the site somewhere that states that anything you say will be scrutinised and rubbished at all cost.
I give up.
Paul charges £50 for a power run. He'll do at least 2 run's until there is less than 1bhp diference between the two. Equipment is incredibly accurate however, i had 3 runs and all were within .1 of a bhp of each other.
Well worth the money imo.
Just echoing what has already been said really. Rust on the arches, sills and boot inner. Tend to eat wheel bearings as do most mk1's - especially if theyve been lowered. Look for a good oil pressure - the dial on the dash should read around 3 on a cold idle, just above 0 on a warm idle, and...
Had my car dyno'd today at RS Tuning's rather expensive new dyno dynamics rr. Its an impressive setup and im aware its incredibly accurate.
Have to say im impressed with the results.
Its a 96 valver with over 100k on the clock.

Thanks for your help mark, managed to get the clip off and examined the pipe which seemed fine. Got the T-piece off and that was also fine, so a quick trip to a motor factors and a 50p jubilee clip later, the problem has been solved!
Right before FCS, THIS happens. Great.
Just noticed that fuel is pissing out of a join near the fuel rail. I cant get the clip off to have a look if thers a split in the bottom of the pipe or anything, so i smeared some sealent on in blind panic which was obviously not the way forward.
What...
or you could use 3rd party software like virtualdub, where you can rotate the video using the filters tab and then compress it to bring the filesize down.
Was in the process of changing my pads on the rear, and couldnt get the piston in far enough, it seemed to have no movement in it, yet when you put the handbrake on it pushes out as it should, it just doesnt withdraw like it should. Smacking it with a hammer wont even more it.
Its now out to...
Its largely the fact ive got some money sat in my paypal that drew me towards the ebay special omps. Like i say i cant imagine theyre going to fall to bits.
My friend has a motor factors so ill see what price he can do me before i go for them.
Cheers for the advice as usual everyone.
Had a poke around with the wheels off today and it soon became apparent i was in dire need of some new rear pads.
Now as its the rear i dont need to be spending mega money on race pads or anything, i just want a set of new pads that will do the trick.
Thing is, ive got a few quid sat in my...
My dad had one of the very first XR3's in the country. I can still remember it, as he sold it to my grandad when he moved on to bigger cars. In blue it was with those same wheels. Hes had many cars since - including numerous high power BM's and his current xk8, yet he still goes on about what...
moist.
Would be interested to know actually how easy this was to do.
Surprised at how much bloody room there is compared to the standard F7P lump! Id kill for that alternator acces!
Cheers guys, nice comments about the car are always good to hear!
 Kermit usually spends most of his days watching scenery going backwards very quickly indeed
