Nope, EX lenses have a gold ring around the front.
Beast of a lens anyhow, I get to shoot 420mm with my 300mm f4 + 1.4tc (giving me 420mm f5.6), it's a lot of fun having that much reach. Unfortunately mine is not stabilized!
Some of these aircraft and wildlife shots from the 120-400 are...
The best 'old' car out there? Absolutely love them, seem to spend as much time going sideways as they do forward, a lottery win would probably see £20k of mine thrown at one of these (off-white and green, everytime), stunning.
And a few from Flickr...
and the rear is...
Brilliant, producing a stunning seamless 360 is one thing, but having the presence of mind to do it in that situation, just brilliant.
The Olympics have reignited my passion for real high end professional sports photography, some asbolutely stunning images coming out of the games. I was...
Nice 197 in the car park at Combe on Sunday, Black with spoiler and skirt etc, I'm not usually one for the bolted on extras, but this looked stunning...
The standard 1.7 is an absolute peach of a car imo (and this seems to be backed up by pretty much every motoring journalist ever), it's not silly quick, obviously, but much like the MX-5, if you can get past the image it's a brilliant cheap car to own that has the all important grin factor in...
That's the one, his Dad was there as well signing books and doing demo laps.
It was the Moto Star Bike Race weekend at Castle Combe, as part of it they have a one-off "Superbike Grand National' every year which apparently has some fairly well known riders competing in.
I don't often get excited about my own photos, but I absolutely love this shot, probably one of the best I've taken. Background almost looks like a painting.
Laying on a carbon fibre tea tray at 100mph over Avon Rise (and they are moving over on their 'tray' preparing for Quarry over the...
Popped into Combe this morning, mainly to check out the F2 sidecars (completely bonkers, they must have balls the size of watermelons, one came around the corner without a passenger, I dread to think what happened to him!) as I'm not a fan of bikes at all. Took a few photos, as always...
420mm...
Hard to tell if it's busy as everyone is so spread out, but I've been to F3/GT Quali 3 times this year (Thruxton and Brands Hatch as well) and this was by far the busiest, the main Pit Straight Grandstand was actually reasonably busy.
As for photos, apart from the area around...
It was only the International Circuit today, so you had to cut across the infield from the inside of Copse (via the Paddock) and back to the main entrance to do a full loop. I didn't realise this as I headed out around the outside of Copse...was a looooong walk back again!
Really liked it but...
Yep, not very exciting to be honest (seen them 3 times this year), the F3s have got to be the dullest spectacle in British Motorsport.
My main observation today...Silverstone is very very windy. I know most are as they are on old WWII Airbases, but this one is properly windy!
My first time there today, it's big! Didn't take many photos as I spent most of the day walking trying to figure out where I was and where everything else was. Finally got used to it by the end but at least I know for future events now...
172 Cup parked in the Silverstone Racing Club Car Park today, a nice Trophy out the back of the Paddock (near a Megane Trophy!), anyone here?
Amusingly, an Audi R8 was parked quite close to me in the public car park, difference was that one was in a disabled bay (with no badge), these...
The two people in question have been PM'd, will see what the outcome is and get a new competition up asap :)
On a general note, If I'm about when I say it's going to end, I take a reading at that time and ignore any future votes (it's never really an issue as it's not usually this close!), but...
Great stuff, colours and lighting are absolutely brilliant.
#3 stands out by a mile for me as the composition is so interesting, love it. The spider on the flower shot is a close second.
The two from the spider/wasp sequence don't quite work for me, great moment to capture but it's too messy...
Amazing shot, absolutely no light pollution either, very impressive.
Have done this over about 45 minutes before, effect is amazing. Unfortunately finding somewhere several miles from street lighting is pretty tough, even when you think you are miles away from the smallest built up area, you...

Yep, all my GC games were Japanese so I splashed out for one of those insane things. Donkey Konga with J-Pop was immense, the missus isn't at all into Japanese culture but she loved it.
Cracking DVD player as well.
A bit recent, but I had a Panasonic Q abut 5 years ago when I lived at home and had money, uber-rare console!
Also owned a Mega CD (sold it last week), 32X (so so bad) and Game Gear over the years. I always really really wanted an Amiga CD32 but could never afford one, think it worked...
The Team Tiger Marcos or Morgan Aero 8 that used to run in the British GT Championship are easily the best two I've heard in the metal. So different to most other cars.
For a road car (sort of), the Mercedes SL 63 AMG F1 Safety Car, best sounding car at Goodwood FoS by a mile imo.
Don't...
