Wow, never got along to Truck Racing yet, hoping to one day. 1000bhp and quicker to accelerate than a 911, or something! I love the last shot, very cool.
Do they beef up any of the fencing or put spectators further back for this? The main chicane near the entrance seems particuarly vunerable...
I struggle including people in them (random people, specifically) as I'm too scared/paranoid/nervous/shy, where as people like Conteo seem to do it with ease.
Spent a day over in Weston today, so many photo opportunities but didn't really do it justice, I still struggle with people in my photos, need to take more brave pills!
Chuffin ell! Stunning captures there, is it the perspective or are the crowd very very close to that incident? I thought Combe was up close and personal but that's ridiculous!
I've only ever caught one remotely interesting incident before, unsuprisingly that was also the Clio Cup...
Been looking for some info but not found much, apparently it was built in 1973, he ran it in the BTCC in 1982, set the Saloon lap record at Combe in 1977 (which still stands today, obviously circuit has been lengthened since)
The driver (Vince Woodman) has been racing at Combe since 1965, not...
Popped over to Combe this morning as I had some free time, it was a test day for this weekends Historic event, not a great deal out on track but the legendary Capri more than made up for it. Not quite sure how long this has been racing at Combe, appears in programmes from 1980 so at least that...
It's pretty well shaded there, so even in the bright sunlight longer shutter speeds were needed even for 'normal' shots, in fact for a shot of my partner I crept up from ISO200 (to ISO400) for probably only the second or third time since I got my DSLR 18 months ago. At f22 I always had at least...

Amazing stuff, shoots with the same setup as me (D50 and 80-200), ignore the more recent stuff as he has had press passes, but older ones like the ELMS are all from public...
Superb, always know someone has 'got it' when they can take a picture of ordinary everyday things and make an interesting photo out of it. The second to last shot is brilliant, love your observations. More proof if it were needed that you don't need really expensive equipment.
As an aside...
Found one, pretty sharp considering...

Brace yourself against something very hard (i.e. a tree), put the camera on 2 second timer, press the shutter, hold your breath (literally) and hope!
D50 was £100 second-hand off of here, the 50mm 1.8 costs about £90 brand new. Pretty much professional grade photography possible with that little lens, very high quality.
A few more here incase anyone is interested...

...and for those interested in the technical side, most were in Shutter Priority mode between 1/4 and 1/2 second. All were bouncing off the f22 aperture limit as it was so sunny. Managed...
Cheers, so pleased to have had the chance to have a go at this, just a shame I didn't have anything more than the camera and 50mm. They are just handheld with £180 worth of equipment though, so no reason why anyone else wouldn't be able to get them.
The second and third photos are what I...
As challenges go this was a tough one
- Hottest day of the year (i.e. incredibly bright)
- One lens (50mm)
- No Tripod/Gorillapod/Monopod or any kind of support
So an unexpected trip to a waterfall wasn't exactly going to be easy, particuarly as I've been reading about 'milky water'...
Nowt wrong with either of those things you mention in my opinion.
If you are trying to learn, people saying 'nice pics' regardless is the worse thing possible, criticism on here is almost always constructive which can only be a good thing.
I also think it's great when people add more to a...
Awesome shots, not a remotely bad one amongst them. Impressive considering I only ever hear bad things about Photography at Silverstone. Sadly couldn't get time off for this, a few people have said it's even better than the Festival of Speed. Will make sure I go next year.
Those Group C cars...
Went to Bath early this morning to pick up a few things, walking down an old street and a flower delivery truck pulls up in the perfect spot covered in awesome grafitti, the contrast against the classic Bath streets was brilliant...
...I didn't have my camera.
Moral of the story, take...
Awesome mate, light is beautiful. I think the horizon is wonky though (leaning to the right) which is bothering me a bit, you can see it in the buildings.
One of the 70-200 (or 80-200) 2.8s will be the best bet, will last you a lifetime as well and if needed you can always add any of the teleconverters to it at a later date (the 2.8s take 1.4, 1.7 and 2.0x), they are professional grade lenses virtually up to the standard of primes, so worth...
I live in a village in Wiltshire! Saying that I did spot some recently so will be heading down there tomorrow.
Be creative, anything written somewhere it shouldn't could be described as grafitti.
