Bit weird being at a circuit in the winter with the low sun, but it was a superb day anyhow (apart from the Clio Cup making friends with a wall)...

Westway (between Camp and Bobbies), all the regular photographers are kicking off and boycotting the circuit as they've put up a new fence there, I wanted to prove it's not a problem.
Quite a nice angle actually...
Headed down to Combe today for the first event of the year, the Charity Track Day. Cup Race Car and a Megane F1 were out on track amongst many others...
On a technical note, low bright sun + white car = nightmare to photograph.
Depends what you like spending money on I guess, my £2k worth of stuff isn't extreme, but some people think that's a lot to spend. At the end of the day I don't drink or smoke so I 'save' a fortune in that respect, and I run a £1500 car, where some members here would spend that on insurance or a...
Jessops do and will haggle, yes. My in-laws got a superb deal on a Panasonic TZ3, but they are very good at things like that. I think they ended up with about £40 off and got some extras thrown in.
That may be the case, but the old model doesn't get worse all of a sudden. Camera body makes little difference anyway (at this end of the market), you could wait for a D60 but your photos won't be any better.
Who was the comp run by? Always on the look out for new ones to enter.
It's always worth entering a few pics into comps imo, even if you don't think your pics are that spectacular (but still fit the theme), not to belittle your efforts but it's surprising just how few entries some of the...
Competition closed now, I will collate the entries and post up a poll (maybe tonight, although it is valentines day!), if we run that for a couple days the winner can then choose the next subject.
oh and a Lowepro Rezo 110AW, very small but just about holds the D50, 50mm and Sigma 10-20, so it's all I took to New York.

No problems here, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't know a bad lens from a good one though, I just tend to shoot stuff and not worry too much about anything technical. I've certainly never noticed anything wrong with any lens I've ever owned.
I wasn't strict on the one mile rule, although I'm 100% sure I never got anywhere near a mile to be honest, it's fairly compact around here.
The most important thing to note is that this particular area is a massive development built in 2000 (hated by the local village), it's not in any way...
I guess I'm lucky then, houses may be fairly expensive here but it sure is nice, I can walk about 3 miles without even walking near a road, loads of cycle/walk pathway all through the area away from the main roads.
I did have to give up my Cup to live here though, so it comes with its...
I would, I do infact, the 50mm lives on my camera as my standard lens, and if I want to travel light I have a small camera bag that holds my D50 and 50mm easily, don't really need anything else if you are clever/creative about it.
SLRs used to come with 50mm lens as standard, the zoom kit...
Amazing, Richmond Park always turns up in the Photography mags, oh the irony of me living in Wiltshire but wanting to get over to London to shoot some natural wildlife pics!
Like the first one and the dog shaking pic a lot, really cool and well captured.
Gave myself a little project today as the weather was so fantastic, simply: walk up to one mile from my front door and see what I can find.
Was really good to walk around camera in hand specifically keeping an eye out for photos, after a few shots you really lock in to potential images just...
My idea was simple enough, double yellow lines. Having only moved here in October I don't really know the area too well yet, so I went for a walk, 3 miles later I still didn't find a single set of double yellows anywhere!
Headed over to where the in-laws live on the other side of town in the...
The sharpness of these things is just awesome, (I've got the Nikon 50mm f1.8, but they are essentially the same) I'm probably more impressed with that than the f1.8. At first I thought the sharpness of my kit lens was amazing compared to my previous camera, but as soon as I got the 50mm it was...
I didnt organise them, just started shooting when the police left and they parked :)
A few more uploaded now...

Thanks guys, I was expecting a few negative comments to be honest as they aren't exactly standard clean pictures, glare and allsorts all over them, but for me they work quite well.
For the record my favourite is actually the Racing Blue stripes pic, no idea why. Don't get too excited about...
