Re: someph-ing different...........
Just a note to say I'm loving this project, watching with interest. Splashes of yellow sound awful against a silver car but it's really working. Ducts in particular look superb, can't wait to see them fitted.
Can anyone save johnnyjogpants image (post #101) as a JPEG? It keeps coming up as an unrecognised file type for me...and yes, I'm clicking the image to see the large version.
Tough one, I always use a combination of Sigma 10-20 and Nikon 50mm for a car shoot, the 10-20 being great for wide/distorted shots, and the 50mm being great for details. As you are shooting static manual focus shouldn't be an issue.
As mentioned though, the 10-20 can shoot non distorted at...
Yes it's brand new new, 9 miles. When the other half arrived to pick it up there was a young lady cleaning it with a bucket and sponge, tried to ask her about it but she didn't speak English. Nowt wrong with that but she didn't exactly come across as a trained valeter.
The roof is far worse...
Picked up the new car yesterday, Panther Black and as expected it's covered in swirl marks.
Whats the best way of tackling it? I don't have a pc but have loads and loads of products from my Clio Cup ownership days.
pmsl at this thread, some quality comments/arguments. I'm personally looking forward to the Clart vs. S666 face off.
Closing comment: my K850i is only just shy of the resolution of my D50.
Closing comment 2: handling is everything. Really isn't much between Canon and Nikon at any level...
I would have it for £110 delivered (not fussed about the lens though, you could sell that seperately if you want), could do with a second body. Any idea how many shutter actuations are on it, and is the sensor clean?
As Pete says get in a store and grab hold of all of the cameras, you will be surprised how your opinions might change. I had to use an Olympus E-400 for a while last year and I hated it, compared to my Nikon it just felt so awkward to use. Obviously your opinions might vary, so it's best to get...
Cool, very clean car anyhow!
Some superb cars in the car park yesterday, gorgeous Florida plated Mustang behind you, loads of Capris and more TVRs than I could count.
The Exige/Cossie battle was better than anything I've seen in F1 during the whole of last season. You literally couldn't seperate them by a matter of inches for a good 5 or 6 laps, through back-markers and everything. The Exige is quicker but the Cossie drove superbly to hold it off for so long.
Bit of a shame this seems to kicking off a little bit. The idea was to have a friendly competition that anyone could enter, it all stemmed from the 'drips' thread I posted, and the hope was (from my end anyway) that we could all have a bash at photographing something (we had people with cheap...
Sounds about right, really slow shutter speeds such as that will gather far too much light during the day, so it compensates as much as it can by choosing the narrowest aperture possible.
The only reason I dislike shooting at silly slow speeds is that all the crap on my sensor becomes very...
Later in the day I spent about half-hour shooting between 1/15 and 1/50, of 100 pics I had about 2 or 3 keepers! Should have realised that handheld + 420mm + strong winds + very cold hands = no chance!
A few pics from a very very cold Castle Combe today...
The new Castle Combe WRX STi Safety Car, which I have to say looks sooo much better in the metal than it does on TV or in pics...
Rich getting his name up in lights (so to speak)
Drinking Red Bull?
Old school GTE...
Very clean Cup parked along Westway today at Castle Combe, plate ending WWO if I remember correctly. I was stood just along from it taking pics.
Also a Racing Blue 182 in Quarry Car Park, and a Silver 172 Cup in the car park over behind Bobbies.
This might get it back on topic...

Clearly Ginetta G50s have one hell of a safety cell.
