am i right in thinking that a de-cat will make my car sound like its got a hole in the floor?
Also, will a de-cat be any good without a performance backbox?
And finally, i thought it was law all cars after 92 (or around that time) had to have a cat?
Thanks
Dazz
Hey all
After a new exhaust for my Phase I rt. Looking to spend around £120. Want something thats not too loud, doesnt lose any power and will fit straight on.
Thanks
Dazz
well i guess the biggest factor is ur budget, if u can afford the insurance go for the 16v! remember the rt is only a group 5 i think :)
BTW, wot sort of times is ur RT pushing? and wots the back box like?
Hey all
Just had a friend telling me his Pug 306 TDI 1.9 would beat my 1.4rt. Of course i had to disagree, but how right am i?
Parkers puts the stats about the same, but mine runs 0-60s in about 11 with no mods. Also, whos would handle better on corners etc?
Thanks
Dazz
one thing i did notice was the coil pin on the dizzy cap was a bit bluey white, managed to clean most of it off with some emry paper so dunno if that has anything to do with it?
Also, i tend to noticed a few flat spots during acceleration - normally in the bottom end of first and second. 3rd...
Hey all!
Ive had my rt just over a month now, and am trying to figure out what is causing the exhaust to pop. The car is standard (atm :-)) and when ticking over there is a very slight popping from the exhaust. Ive checked the plugs, replaced the leads etc. and everything seems fine. After...
Hi all
Thinking of getting a Piper Exhaust for my 1.4rt. Was just wondering if these are any good, and also, will the ecu need to be adjusted as im getting a new filter element (prolly K&N) at the same time.
Thanks
Dazz
ok thanks all!
guess i might stick with the 13" for now! would love to have alloys but the only thing that puts me off is the reducing of acceleration :(
Oh well
okey doke!
I hear bigger wheels will make it faster at tops speeds? what sort of speeds will i start to notice this extra acceleration eg. 50mph+???
or not at all?
Thanks
Dazz
Hi all
Im thinking of getting some 15" phase 1 16v alloys for my phase 1 1.4rt (92).
I was just wondering if anyone has done this and whether they have encountered any problems and could answer a few questions please.
1) Does it effect acceleration due to the bigger wheel size?
2) Am i...
Hey all!
Looking to get a replacement air filter element for my clio. I was just wondering if theres much difference between the k&n and green filter elements?
Also, wheres the cheapest place to pick them up?
Thanks
Dazz
yeah the cat, im not on about the other heat shield :-) I mean the heatshield that makes up the outside of the cat. Its got loads of little wholes in?!? (just like the bottom of the cat)
The heat shield looks to have cracked all the way around the rim (on the top half of the cat) so the bolts dont effect it :-(
Oh and BRUN, cable ties will just melt on a cat :)
Thanks anyway
Morning all
Whilst down the garage last week i noticed that the cat heat shield on the top had become detached from the front and sides of the cat, only the back was still attached. Now at low speeds i can hear the shield flapping up and down, and at high speeds it gets even worse. I was...
Hi all
Noticed today that whilst going down the motorway the wheel has to be steered slightly to the right for the car to go straight?? Is this likely to be the steering wheel alignment??
Also, when i hit about 80mph (on a private track of course ;)) the steering wheel started to judder...
ok il give it a go tuesday (working all day tomo - bank hols = double time :-)
BTW, do you think a toilet plunger (or something similar) could suck a little dent out of a front wing?
ok thanks, i did get a quote from the body shop for the dent, plus a few scratches and another small dent on the front bumper and they wanted £350!!! stuff that!
Any advice on taking the interior off? is it simply just a case of taking all the visible screws off? or do i need to be careful...
Hi all,
Theres quite a large, but only barely visible dent on the left rear door on my clio. I was wondering if would be possible to take the inside of the door off and push the metal back out to its original shape?? Ive heard that on some cars you can actually get to the metal from the inside...
