1 reason........Cost.
Making up toothed drive system, guides and tensioners, it has to be enclosed and oiled. Belts are better, its really not that big a job.

You'll gain access with the aux belt off, the noise insulation off and the engine raised up.
Cover bolts are all accesable with shallow sockets and ratchet spanners, same with the lower plastic cover.

Add a secondary CTS into the upstream side of the thermostat housing, but weld on a bung rather than tap directly into the housing itself.
If your using a single TB setup then you can use the OEM map sensor, and you should be using the map...
Its a rough starting point, people can get hung up on 'custom' exhaust design, but fact is that it'll only be optimal for a very very narrow area once you've crunched a million numbers.
