with the 172 if you have a post lambda this should be blocked off to prevent eninge management light coming on, wont make a diff on the the 182 as far as im aware as light will come on in either cirumstance.

I think I remeber ben saying youl need to set the idle to about 1100RPM and then unplug the ICV and it should idle okay at that speed bit of a bodge but best you can do without aftermarket ecu/tbs etc... Sorry I know not much help but im sure one of the more experienced guys will pop there head...
Yep take the 2 10mm bolts off the fuel rail unplug the connections and pull
Spray a little penetrating lube on them if they are tough getting in or out.
I would hazard a guess at either 4 or maybe even 2 gauge but burp would know hes good with stuff like that

No probs, Yeah should be a relatively easy operation your just gunna need a bracket to hold it securely and some thick I'm gunna guess at about 4/2awg cable from under the bonnet to the boot you can just ground it onto the floorpan

Cupracer, but it was only to emphasize the IK not the rest of the set up lol but I guess the engine is set up in a slightly different position allowing the strut brace to sit straight
Plus any weight you shift to the rear can only help in such a nose heavy car ;)
