    FK Coilover protection spray

WD40 or silicone spray will do just as good.

172 wont start, just turns over

Not crankshaft sensor. Crank sensor. On top of the gearbox where it meets the block. Held on by 2x 10mm bolts.

Which Clios use the same rear caliper as the 172 Cup?

All 1*2's use the same rear calipers. Also, Saxo VTS, 106 GTi's and 306 GTi-6's all use identical rears. By that reckoning, I'd also bet a Xsara VTS does, too.

    clutch release bearing ???

The one near me give a pretty good 'trade price' if you ask. Cuts it down to about £100.

    clutch release bearing ???

Yeah, might as well do the whole kit as you'll have the box off. Only an extra six bolts. Valeo kit's about £100 from ECP, I believe.

    clutch release bearing ???

Bring it to mine and I'll do it for a very reasonable rate.

FAO Mechanical Genius People - CV joint Issues

You won't be able to put it on tight enough- trust me. Not by hand.

Can i disconnect my battery for the evening..

f**k me, how bad is this place? It's a Clio, not a Ferrari. If you're that intent- disconnect the HT leads from the coilpack.. Also- post pics.

FAO Mechanical Genius People - CV joint Issues

If you can get that clip on by hand, you'll be the incredible hulk. They need to be on f**king tight! Jubilee clip works fine if positioned correctly.. Cable tie's a no go, as they'll give up easily.

I know it was an '05 plate, but that's all I got, really. Flew past it at about 60, lol.

Help with a 197 steering wheel to fit my 172

Needs to be a 197 wheel and airbag, and you need to 'alter' the wiring, iirc.

    Name that bolt... (with pics)

Yep, it's the speedo sensor heatsheild. Latest pic of bolts isn't working for me.. Earthstrap bolts from the lower gearbox mount to the body/chassis. Pretty much, anywhere you bolt it on will be fine, as long as there's a good connection between the body and the gearbox.

Tell her it's a week where she'll hear people talk about cars 24 hours a day. Drunk people. Either that, or bring her along and Failsport will keep her busy.

    Dephaser Pulley

Engine won't run rough unless a dephaser's properly s**t itself. Will sound rattly when it's on it's way out. Part is £180-ish, and you need the cambelt etc done to fit it. So about £700 odd from a Specialist.
  23. Budgie

    182 CAMBELT AND DEPHASER!

Nightmare. Leave it in bits and get a specialist to fix it, imo. If the garage doing it aren't aware they need the specific locking tools, they won't get it right. For sure.

    MOT related question

Flol. Rear shocks are £50 each from Renault, IIRC. Rear pads will be less than £30 I imagine, and both easy enough to fit yourself. Change both rear shocks though, while you're at it.

    MOT related question

Yep, all's well and good until the expiry date, i'd imagine. Also, if yours is a 172 Cup, and it's failed on rear brake efficiency, it's balls. There's a get out clause.

    Name that bolt... (with pics)

Dan's pretty much spot on. M- TDC sensor bolts. O- the power feed to the starter motor. The garage who did it before probably knackered the old nut. Also, I can't see from the pic, but J and K look like the brackets at the back of subframe to body. They'll have a torx bit in the head itself...
