I posted this exact thread a few days ago, no response though! Got a set on the way from Yozzasport, not sure how long delivery is but I will post pics once they are on.
Looked into it more and the DIY was of doing it seems a little hit and miss, managed to have a look at a car with it done professionally today and it was visable enough on that (ok, you had to look hard, but you could see it!) so a home job doesn't really appeal. Guess you need to weigh that up...
Yeah totally, thought it was an odd place to pick up chips, would have expected it to be behind the rear wheels if anything. Thats easily the worst area of my car, it looks better after a good clean and wax but soon comes through again. Not even sure if Scratch X will do any good on it.
It did the job but considering what it cost that wasn't really enough. I noticed it instantly with the new wax as well, whilst the NXT gave pretty good results, the stuff I used today was instantly and obviously much better.
Shampoo was great, if desperate I think you could easily get away with just a quick Shampoo and nothing else with that stuff and to the untrained eye it would look excellent, could never say the same thing about the NXT Shampoo I have as it always seemed like half a job.
Car looks ok from a...
It is indeed, original one came off on the Motorway so I got the K-Tec one and fitted it myself, only this time with more than 3 screws or whatever the hell Renault used when fitting the original (sellotape?!)
Here is a better pic from when I was fitting it...
Only had 1hr 1/2 spare this weekend so until this evening I was driving round in a reasonably dirty car compared to most people...everyone else in the country seemed to have got the hose or buckets out.
Anyway, I got started this evening and managed to finish just before the sun disappeared...
Did anyone see it? Madness, gets called out by people to clear bird crap off their cars, I don't understand these people - they hardly ever drive their bloody supercars and they won't even think about cleaning them either. Whats the point?!
No, the new prices are across the board for all cars registered March 2001 onwards. The only exception to this is the new Band G, as this will only affect cars registered after March 31st 2006 or somewhen like that.
No I didn't, I was parked in Quarry Car Park, sat myself just off of Quarry today (usually at Bobbies), very entertaining seeing the huge American cars slide round the bend.
Had this problem too, Renault wanted £100 for a tyre, I was desperate and it was December 23rd so I had to do it. However, Pro-Tyre (local to me, not sure if its national) always have the Cup Conti Contacts in stock for £55 so I' prepared now!
I know, I don't like them hugely but it needs to be done, gave the car a good clean and wax this evening and the paintwork near to the wheels is horrific, its a preservation thing. Every other part of the car is immaculate now so I need to get this sorted.
I'm only using two flaps to do the...
Inferno 182 with Recaros, 3 172 Cups, various 172 and 182s in different colours, and a Silver Mk2 V6 (never see the Mk2 in Silver)
Fantastic day, one of the best I've been to and thats saying something at Combe, Saloon Car Championship grid was stunning.
Anyone got close up pics of the Sparco flaps fitted to a 172/182, or any advice on how to fit them? Looks like a wheel off job to get it done properly, but can't really figure out what to attach them with and then what to attach them to!
Any help appreciated.
Janspeed in Salisbury, doesn't take long to get there from Southampton. Not sure if you can book it on individually though, would have to call them up.
Another different one around here (could be the one that sold at Platinum recently), Monaco 172 passing me near Paxcroft Mead around 1:30pm today, looked stunning and very shiny. Looked to be a 20 something male driver. Gave me a long look but I didn't get a chance to wave.
Don't be fleeced into getting them from Ebay, I've never had trouble getting them from a Renault dealership. It amazes me when I see people selling them for £10 or something mad, the last few I've had spare I've just given them to forum members at meets who had damaged/missing ones.
Newer cars (March 01 onwards) are calculated by emissions, 172/182 is 194g/km iirc which puts it in Band F. The new band introduced is Band G which is for cars from March 06 onwards chucking out 225g/km or more.
There is no 2000cc tax that I'm aware of, pre March 01 cars are based on above or...
Hehe, what were you doing down here? I'm about 1/2 mile from there at my missus place. I've seen that one before, the picture is actually quite flattering!
Interesting, I'll take a cheque in for the amount on the form and try my luck.
It says you can post the new application too so that would be better, any idea how to do this as it doesn't actually say.
Blimey, I need to prepare for a new one I think! Any stainless steel aftermarket ones that remain hidden like the OEM one and that aren't any louder (or just a tiny bit louder)
K-Tec stealth looks ok but a few people have said they are too loud.
Got my Tax thing from the DVLA today, expecting to see the new £104.50/£190 amount on it but its still got the old £90.75/£165 printed on mine.
When do the new prices come into affect? According to the DVLA its 23/03/06.
Anyone else got their bill?
