Everyone keeps saying that! I think I am as I'm spending a bloody fortune on it at the moment...24k service soon at Carlton, insurance and tax in two weeks time, more new tyres, replacing a couple of the slightly kerbed Turini's etc. And I've just spent a fair bit getting the paintwork up to...
Lovely silver MK1 Silver 172 in an insanely busy Tesco car park in Trowbridge at midday today, and a Silver Cup being towed by the AA through Trowbridge too...hope its not too serious!
On the sidelights issue I'm a believer in using these during the day and quite frequently do. I will dig it out somewhen but I read a study that found driving with sidelights on during the day reduces the risk of someone colliding with you by 15%.
But I also see where people are coming from...
I was only on 17k at the time iirc and managed pretty much identical readings to Marks and the other Cup (and higher than the 182s as you say) with just a ITG Panel Filter, so not sure if mileage makes a great difference. Only a few BHP in it either way though.
Has anyone had any experience with this stuff? Its a clear urethane film that goes on vunerable parts of the car to protect it from stone chips etc, used in motorsport alot apparently and usually found on the front end of Lambos etc.
Anyhow, DIY kits are now available in Halfords and seem...
Microfibre to dry? Am I missing something?!
I've only ever used Microfibre pads/towels to apply or remove wax/polish etc (I've got a Megs towel and a blue Tesco £1.27 towel for removing, and a pad from CarWashnWax for applying), I can't even see how they would work for drying.
I use a Megs...
Really? Never knew that! Never thought of it as we have unmanned pumps around here during the night which you can fill up with using your credit/debit card.
I've never really given this much thought but I filled up recently and had my usual trouble getting the pumps to register. I very rarely get to a Shell garage but when I do I always have fun trying to get the fuel to start flowing, same thing happens at Tesco when I fill up with 97/99. However...
Yes that will be when we were overtaking the slow 182 Cups in our superior 172 Cups, unfortunately we are all crap drivers who write off cars on a daily basis though so we tend to drive into or over lesser Renaultsports instead of driving round them.
Shall we get the usual stuff out of the way before this turns into a car crash :)
- "The 172 Cup is a real Cup, you've sold out"
- "172 Cup engines were cherry picked, they are the bestest"
- "The 182 Cup is officially the fastest"
- "Who needs aircon anyway, its like 28c max in this...
Find the paint code from the list in the articles section, if you take that in they jump for joy (and wonder where the hell you got the code from) in my experience! Got a Mondial Blue "pencil" last week from Renault, they didn't have stock but as usual they get stuff in real quick, took 2 days...
Was quite amusing when I got the package actually, opened it in front of my Mum, first I pulled out a small tub with GUYS HARDCORE XXX PASTE on the side, then next came what looked like industrial sized bottle of lube.
Great products I'm sure, but silly names :)
Got the same sensors as Pistol Pete in my 53 UK Cup, can't remember that light near the gear stick though, thought mine was in the instrument panel? Will have to check now!
Johners, mine has had "two previous keepers" but has only had one real owner, the first was Renault in...
Just used this company for the first time (thanks whoever has been promoting them!) and I have to say they have been excellent.
Quick delivery, paid by PayPal last Friday and it was here yesterday (Monday) at 8am with Amtrak. Superbly packaged as well, had some suspect packaging with car...
Top stuff, suprisingly few 172 Cups at the SW meets so it will be nice to see another.
Excellent price too, hope you enjoy it as much as I have mine so far.
It may only be a number plate but then thats the only way to realistically identify a car. Get hit by a woman in a car who then races away from the scene and you'll know where I'm coming from.
Just no need for it imo, Mitch's plate looks near enough to his name, no need to change it. If you...
Spotted a Black Vee heading East on the M4 today around 2pm between Chippenham/Swindon junction, possibly had lexus lights but not sure as I was going the other way so only seen in rear view mirror.
Get the wheels off one by one, AG Engine & Machine Cleaner should get rid of most of it, work it in with a paintbrush, hose down then do the remaining bits with a Halfords alloy brush. Dry them off then wax them, once you've done that once they will clean easily in the future, most crap will...
Can't really condone that, I've had a crash in the past where the culprit has driven off and I've struggled to get the numberplate. I'm sure you wouldn't do the same but still plenty of reasons why someone may legitimately need to read it one day.
I'm keeping it now, just bought a shed load more cleaning products, took the wheels off and gave them a good clean and wax etc today. Its looking so damn good I decided to hell with it, a house can wait a few months longer if I get to drive S25 every day :)
Got to collect my touch up stick on...
Never really known what the difference is actually and I've parked next to plenty of Arctic 182s in my time! Maybe ever so slightly darker, hard to say to be honest...
Mondial ----- Arctic
Blue will be Mondial Blue if it was from a 172 Cup, and Arctic or Racing Blue if it was from a Cupped 182, not likely to be Racing though based on your description. It won't be Monaco unless its been resprayed.
Here is Mondial Blue Cup Spoiler...Monaco is much darker, almost navy blue.
Re: Some pics of my wrecked disks off my 182
My rear lifts when I jack up the front, and I don't have coilovers! Just a standard Cup. Bit worried at first, is it normal/safe?!
Makes me a feel a little safer seeing those pics, they seem to have taken the impact very very well from what I imagine is a reasonably high speed impact.
A car should look like that these days after a big frontal impact. I've always wondered about the carbon bonnets etc actually, are they...
