Always a concern but low mileage cars that old do legitimately exist, I know because my Dad's car is sat in the garage...it barely moves 2k a year as he cycles to work and gets free rail travel.
Sure, here goes...
Front
Front Close-Up
Rear Close-Up
Got them from Powerbulbs (changed every light on the car), £25 for 4.
Also highly recommend Osram Silverstar bulbs for the front beams, plenty of light whilst still being nice and safe (unlike some of the blue HID effect bulbs...
Doing one of my usual twice daily searches of Autotrader for my potential Valver and spotted this...
Valver (second one down), 1992, one owner, 32k! Seems a bit good to be true. If its still available at the weekend I will have to arrange a viewing.
I've noticed this with Silvervisions, everyone always says "get Silvervisions" when people post pics of their cars, but I tested some (one Silvervision, one normal in the front, then stand way back and see if there is a difference) and the difference was suprising, especially in daylight. As I...
Dare I ask: whats the point? A car is to be driven, why pack it away for 10 years?! I've covered 12k in my Cup over the last 10 months (4 commuting, 8 for the hell of it) and I still feel like I haven't made the most of it.
I'm sure many will hope this is trailered around and displayed at...
According to the UK MOT Guide the spare does not form part of the test, so it can be missing/damaged or whatever..as long as its secure in or on your car. So leave it in, won't do any harm.
Needed a new Conti today (standard 195/45/R16 Cup tyre)
Last time I checked Renault wanted about £95 for one of these (not fitted)
Went to Bathwick Tyres (local tyre chain) and got one for £58, amazing price imo, even Black Circles want about £70 for them.
Anyone found a better price?
Its a strange one, considering the weight of the car and the size of the front brakes the rear ones are hardly used. The braking power has been tested by numerous magazines as being supercar-good, yet they are technically an MOT failure for not being good enough.
Doesn't make sense to me.
Nice one, what area of Trowbridge you hoping to move to if you don't mind me asking?
I thought for a moment that I recognised the plate but there is another guy around here with a Racing Blue (never waves or anything!) so I figured it was him.
I've got a Megs Water Magnet and wouldn't be without it, dries the entire car without ringing it out once.
However...
Make sure you use the "sheet" option on your hose (or take the gun off completely), this seems to reduce standing water by about half.
Wax your car. I use NXT Wax and...
Thats the frustrating thing, was told it was unmarked etc. I had my Mk1 Clio well past 100k and I sold it as "excellent condition" as it was absolutely spot on, the buyer said it barely looked a day old. May as well be honest if you know someone is going to be travelling 200 miles to see it, its...
£2k is my preferred budget, but will probably stretch to £2.5k if needs be. Going to seriously think about leaving the whole Clio thing behind I think, I'm selling the Cup to free up some cash but it sounds like I could end up spending a fortune on keeping a Valver on the road! Problem is I...
The rust on this one was up near the rear window just before the start of the roof line, quite a bit of it too. Was suprised as I knew I was supposed to be watching out for the arches but this was really visible as it was nearer eye line.
Maybe I was too picky but the floor inside was dirty...
In the past 24hrs I've seen the following...
Silver 172 Cup - Friday at 4:45pm near Halfords in Trowbridge, looked mint.
Inferno Megane 225 - Friday at 6pm outside Hungry Horse in Yarnbrook, Wilts
172 Cup with Carbon Bonnet & huge exhaust - A350 melksham around 10:30am this morning...
Where are you based SOHROB?
The thing I don't understand is that today I had a good look over a several 10-12yr old standard Clios, they were spot on with no obvious external defects. Why (if it is the case) are Valvers more badly affected?
Went to see a Valver today which was described as being "in better condition than almost any you will find these days", got all the checks done and mileage/history etc was all spot on. Travelled 200 miles as well which made my day even worse.
Arrived to see it and from a distance it looked...
I'm going to see this first thing in the morning (if its still there, got to check before I leave but I chatted to the bloke on Thursday night and all was fine)
Chris.
Size 13s here (and only 6ft, bit out of proportion!), pedals are generally fine but I tend to struggle with the clutch foot a bit as resting it on the side-plate means I often catch my foot under the clutch when lifting it up.
If the Xenons are as bad as some have mentioned I would seriously suggest taking them in to Renault to check alignment etc. I've been followed by plenty of 172/182s with Xenon's on and its never been dazzling, just looks real nice!
As for foggies, can't stand it myself! Seems to be the thing...
Not as bad as Ford, Focus only has one rear reverse light on the right iirc, I HATE that! I use my reversing lights to see when backing up the driveway.
Feel for you mate, as you said though, best to move on and start afresh, wouldn't want the car after that.
I assume these go abroad? Only 2000 Cups in the country so surely they can't sell it on in the UK, would be risky to say the least, especially with your LPG conversion which makes it...
Dyanmique's etc were the same, depends on build dates but as a general rule they changed between 52 and 03 I believe. My early 03 Dynamique had clears.
Ok, can people list as many of the options as possible (including MK1 or 2 if they were only specific to a certain one), and if known how common/rare they are? I'm starting to read up on them as I'm going on a viewing spree soon to try and find a mint one, just wondered whats out there...
