Any should fit. Genuine one's come up for sale quiet often and can be had for £50-100 quid. If it has rusted away at the joint could you not get it sleeved to fit the exhaust? or has it gone at the manifold end?
I've got a scenic shift (longer) with a yanno kit and burpspeed mod to bring it back toward the driver. neil a had it on his track car and said it worked well, fitting it tomorrow. I'll let you know how I get on.
I was in your position and bought a 182. Although I didn't have a budget as good as yours. If I was doing it again I'd buy a 172, cup if you're not fussed about AC or a standard one if you are. Spend the money you save on making sure it's had it's belts, refresh the suspension/coilovers, wheels...

I'd not be bothered by it tbh. You wouldn't have the first idea if a non press car had been driven within an inch of it's life, probably with less skill and mechanical sympathy. The internetz love a bit of scaremongering.
If it was me I'd try find one that's had the belts done at a specialist (or if not factor that into what you are expecting to pay for the car), buy on condition and based on what you want from it. If you are wanting to put coilovers on it then the FF might not be the best choice as the bolt...
