I hope you're going to fit a propper exhaust on there ;)

There's better performance options available
No - I think I'll be sticking with the ProSpeed. I can't say I've found it particularly restrictive, it sounds good and I've had zero problems with it. For the sake of (potentially) a few bhp I'm not too fussed. It's too good an exhaust system in my opinion so it will be staying on the Trophy :)

Re: The life of... SharkyUK's Trophy [& Fred's V6]

Can you quantify 'better' in terms of bhp?

The best increase in performance I had was from the new btm system compared with the old yozza, IIRC I gained around 5-6bhp.

I've seen a few of the prospeed exhausts and have heard a few people mention they hadn't seen any increase in performance just noise. Not saying the prospeed is a bad exhaust however If you're creating a high compression engine you want the exhaust to be the best it can be, no point throwing a fortune at an engine build then having a restrictive exhaust on. Ask Fred to send up a btm system to RST with the car and do a back to back dyno run when it's at pauls, I guarentee you will get more power and still a great noise with the btm system.

Strange Fred hasn't specced it if there's increases to be had.

No idea mate! Like you say though if 1000's are being spent seems strange to ignore the exhaust which seems the most bang for Andys buck.. Plus andy could probably get few £££ back for the old one.

IMO the BTM system is going to be the best one for flow but it's not my choice as it's andy's car.

If, and it's a big if, the exhaust system is found to be restrictive then I would consider changing it (and a remap) in the future. But if the losses (if any) are minimal then I simply won't bother for the sake of a few bhp's and lbft's. :) As stated from the off, I'm not looking for every last possible ounce of NA performance or for pub bragging rights. Whilst I fully see your viewpoint and understand you are questioning why I'm potentially compromising, I am yet to see evidence that the system is restrictive to a point of being a concern. Of course, this system has only been run with a shagged engine but we shall see... :)

Whatever happens, I intend to drive it, enjoy it and put some miles on it before anything else!

I fail to see what is wrong with the current system, its well designed with free flowing (straight through type) silencers, so Im not sure where people think the gains from replacing it will really be TBH.

Maybe one of you could fill me in on the issues with it as Im genuinely interested?

Nearly, mate. Nearly! It's as good as there. A few little jobs are being done whilst the recovery truck (to take it to RS Tuning) is having a new clutch sorted...

Would of been good trophy weather this weekend:(

It's booked in mate :)

And don't worry, I've been trying to enjoy this glorious weather albeit in the Vee! I had a plan of action for both the Vee and Type-R this weekend but, sadly, illness has put an end to that. Typical. It always happens when I get a few days off. :(

Great news :) it will be worth the wait.
It will mate :) Hope you are M are both well!

Thankfully it's not man flu. At least, I hope not (although it might well develop into something akin to man flu!) To be honest, I've been burning the candle at both ends of late and been incredibly busy. I think it's caught up with me and I'm just exhausted.

When is it going in? You should know the answer to that... "soon" ;)

It's a shame mate. It would have been good to catch up at Llandow. I'm hoping to get along to a few other events so will likely see you at one or two of those (or pop over to see you when I'm up in Nottingham, if you're around). :)

^ Thanks for posting the link up, Chi. :)

Llandow is a fun little circuit / sprint track and well-suited to the Clio. Plus, it's a great day out for the laughs and socialising as well; I'd definitely recommend it.

I'm really starting to think my Trophy is cursed. I'm rapidly losing enthusiasm for it at the moment! LOL!

Mate, it's just one thing after another and I'm starting to get cheesed off. Annoyingly it's completely out of my (or Fred's) hands. :( It was booked in for running in/mapping today and, well, it didn't get to RS Tuning due to the fire at the chemical factory across the way. Not worth shipping the car all the way up to Leeds when the road and businesses were closed whilst police and fire services made the area safe. *sigh*

That's a mere blip buddy. At least the rolling road didn't burn down and at least it didn't make it due to a fault with the car.

Chin up old bean. X

Yeah, I know Daniel. Thanks buddy. :) I'm just a bit fed up with it being so close to being done. It's been a heck of a ride over the last 15 months and I was just hoping that the bad luck was all out of the way! But, as you say, it's a mere blip and not the end of the world :)

It must be frustrating, but as Dan said, best to get all the bad luck out of the way before you take delivery ;)

Oh, and if it makes you feel better, mine is sat in the garage gathering dust and immobile at the moment as well. Broken car fwends!

In a month, when you're getting up at 4.30am for a blat around those roads we did, and you're excited like an infant at Christmas, it will all be worth it. Looking forward to seeing it at Llandow :)

Oh hai bwoken car fwend! No, it doesn't make me feel better mate; I feel bad that you're not able to enjoy your car! LOL! :) But I hear you. I was just having a "toys out the pram" moment. Just frustrating, 'tis all.

Anyways, I look forward to seeing you at Llandow mate as well mate (if not before).

So when is it re booked in for now Andy ?
No date yet fella. It's thrown plans off a bit but hopefully it won't be much longer.

I really hope for you that when it's finished that it stays spot on for many years of fun :)
Haha! Thanks Matt. Fingers crossed, eh? Once it's back home I'm thinking of re-writing this entire thread in the form of a story. Probably a comedy. :)

That is thoroughly bad luck about the fire closing the road to RS. Looking forward to seeing it at Llandow.
Thanks mate. The main thing is that RS remain unscathed so that's definitely a "good thing!" Catch you at Llandow :)

Tell me about it kind sir! Luckily I'm (usually) a patient and laidback sort of guy (apart from yesterday when my toys exited the pram). I need to talk to you actually to see if you are around on the weekend of 7th/8th June? I'm at Oulton Park for the BTCC (including the SuperTourers!) and wondered if you'd be around on the Saturday evening for a bite to eat and a few drinks? Might be a good chance to meet a few of the guys who will be on the Scotland trip with us :)

You couldnt make it up! Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction!
I couldn't agree more, mate! Hopefully catch you soon :)

It's not for sale. I've asked :) Unless a buyer was to stump up some silly amount of course. My cut as the middle man would be favourable so let's get the bidding underway... :p

LOL! You should have popped in for a cuppa mate. As for 16k... he may have mentioned that but he wouldn't let it go at that price! Although it is currently looking a lot prettier at the moment as I've primed and painted away the stone chips on the front. :) Damn weather has stopped me from completing the job for now but it looks a LOT better for it :)
