So with the help of a mate to do all the actual graft. I could get used to just doing the last bit with the torque wrench ;)
New plugs, Magnecor leads and a new coil pack are now in, with a new map sensor due to the mishap.
Also found a bit of oil on top of plug No.4 and around vvt solenoid...
So we will log on to KTR website tomorrow and see no stock on lower manifolds and new "new improved" BHP figuers on everything else. :)
Dan, Thanks for making the effort and typing it up.
after a quick chat with @NorthloopCup . I spoke to Paul at renaultpartsdirect who has now changed the cambelt "tool kit" on the website from 3 piece to 4 piece to inc the extra long cog that needs swapping in. I think it added a couple of quid to the price so comes in at £138 delivered. I'm a...
Hi @Akay , the one fitted to the dpa thats coming is just a standard. Its a 2nd hand kit i jumped on yesterday. If i dont go for the richbrook i will let you know. The slant top seems to be hard to get hold off these days. Random online london tuning shop had one still on the shelf.
Hi Andy(@SharkyUK ),
Nah had some nerves deocompressed in my lower back so not able to do much real work. Got bored and took the upper inlet off, a strut brace helps alot when having to lean on an engine ;). Anyway had my own mini sharkyuk trophy momment. Wanted to do a bit of DIY polishing...
Part which sticks for me is the powder. They are a trade so must be able to get stuff done cheap. £60 per shock for a blast and powder is a fair amount of cash as they have the unit in bits anyway.
There is a minor length difference between 172 and 182 I believe. I am not 100% why.
Magnecor at the other end of the budget scale for instance sell 172 or 182 leads with different part numbers
Cheers James,
Yeah , mount is coming off first as well. Just picked up some spares to clean up. Will do them now rather than waiting for cam time if it's possibl to do.
Wanted to do my camcover but that does c**k it all up... Engines used to be so much easier lol.
Left hand Engine bracket I know can come off ok. Can the upper alloy timing belt cover come off safely or like the rocker cover is it going to c**k anything up and can only be done with retiming the belts?
Cheers
Chris
Thank you, that's what was my very rough guess. Was just curious if you could run something like this in. As I guessed you would want to before a proper map.
Loom looks purposeful.
For the lacking in learning. How does the start up map work.? Is it based on a 172 or 197 or just totally generic?
And when you say startup? Is that just a case of standing back screaming it's alive... Then turn it off or can you drive it with care to the mapper?

with a PMS exhaust apparently
Right hand steering wheel thumb grip is falling to bits. Plus it's had a bumper spray at some point, which is necessarily a bad thing but worth investigating.
