lol, you old dooshbag :slap:
Might look into polybush'ing/new ball joints - aware that it is cheaper, but will anything on the actual wishbone be fubar'd after 183k miles?
Yup, i read the thread. He needs to refurb the front Sachs and get some Koni's for the rear. They can both go f*cking hard if that is what you want. Everyone bums KW V2's & what dampers do they use? Yup. Koni adjustables lol.
Nope, i believe in building a car to match your driving style. But, i...
And im trying to remind everyone that people actually go on track for a number of reasons, mainly the following:
Racing & laptimes - to include circuit racing, hillclimbs & autotest (which will all require different setups)
Trackdays & fun
These two main disciplines may require entirely...
Still depends entirely on what you want from the car though.
My Trophy is standard damper wise (non adjustable), but with the addition of a Whiteline ARB, Sportlines & -2 degrees front camber. Its not the fastest setup im sure, but offers imho considerably more 'fun' than a serious track or...
Looking to spend a little money on the Trophy now as the steering (since the 'tracking was done at Kwik Fit) has got progressively more loose/wobbly over the past few weeks - im thinking they buggered something up with too much heat? Front Sachs seem fine and have only done 15k since they were...
Re: Clio Sport No.7
lol, & people say im mental.
Look forwards to seeing how this progresses over the next month, before you get bored with it & pull it apart.
I'd agree with all of that, the 197 is great once you're above 5k, but below that, it can feel VERY flat compared to the 1*2.
Once you're above that 5k however, its a joy to keep it there, with the 'box having almost perfectly spaced ratios to keep it on the boil.
Unfortunately, the mpg is...
On the flipside, if you have done all of your braking 200m before the corner, & there is subsequently no weight transfer to the front axle, you will still understeer - even with R888's, AST's and some Spax coilovers made of 21ct gold set to full hard on the rear.
Some people focus too much on...
Personally, i would simply get the Sachs you have refurbed, put some konis on the rear, then combine it with a Whiteline ARB and Sportlines.
This is the setup that i'll have shortly, & the one that Nick is currently speccing up.
For me, it is the most driver adjustable setup available for the...
Re: Ultra Red 200 ordered. Pictures at the docks added.
Although to be fair, all you need to do is get a couple of full spec/price/finance quotes from a dealer, then work out the %'s they use for interest/GFV/dealer contribution etc and you can mess about with the spec to your hearts content...
Will keep an eye on this!! Saxo's are most definately FTW ;)
If you need some ideas, check out my Shed thread: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?452785-Sir_Dave-Project-Track-Shed Everything (inc. the car) cost less than £2.5 and that was built to a very decent track/fast road spec...
Personally, having driven various 200's with a view to buying one, i found no real difference to the 197 Cup that i ended up buying (for sale btw :o). Also £6.5k is considerably less than the £11k+ that you need for a 200 with Recaros!! Cant believe i even considered spending 20 grand on a clio...
I'll be honest, i like the look of this, but (& this is a genuine question), what is the actual point of having ducting to the brakes - i simply removed the fog lights/arch liners and let the air find its own way there ...
Its the high pressure (engine side) fuel pumps that are expensive for the TDi's Ian, the low pressure in-tank pumps are the same cost as normal petrol ones.
For my 206 hdi, when the low pressure fuel died, & subseqently pumped swarf throughoput the entire fuel system, the costs were roughly...
ROFL. Nothing, my plate is going on it as soon as the V5 comes back.
About to spend two grand on a 3 week holiday to Thailand/Vietnam/Hong Kong in August so wont have any money for cars :o
Well, its still for sale at the moment lol, need to get rid of it really! Essentially i thought that a newer version of my beloved Trophy would offer me a good combination of fun vs. better comfort on the motorway for my commute. Unfortunately, whilst it covers the fun element well enough, its...
Standard Eibachs vs Sportlines:
From my understanding both sets of springs are roughly the same rating at about 160lbs, but the standard Eibachs are only straight wound, compared to the Sportlines which are progressively wound.
As such, the latter give a much better low speed ride quality...
Yeah, but then i spent it on a 197 Cup lol. Which i now need to sell ...
But no, no plans whatsoever, bar maybe some Silvervisions, & copious amounts of fuel ;)
My Trophy has 183 thousand miles on it. Theyre fine for use on the motorway - comfy Recaros and cruise is all you need.
It averages 35-39mpg per tank depending on whether i sit at 85 or 70. Brilliant car, awesome fun, cheap to run & a real piece of hot hatch brilliance.
Those that say...
I hate you. But only because you were right. x
Sarah was as well tbh. She said i wouldnt last a month without a BMW.
Yes. Forever. Its a part of me now
Will be undergoing a full suspension refresh over the coming weeks!!
Hee hee, i did ok, especially considering the 4 new Bridgestones and 8 months tax lol. But no, it wont be for sale anytime soon i dont think, its actually perfect for my needs & once the 197 is sold, will give me a nice chunk of cash to put towards my 1st house. In addition, i just spend a small...
I always assume that you will get into trouble changing as often as i do if you make a profit.
Its safe to say that i dont lol ...
Yeah, im pleased with it so far, i think my ideal combo is an e46 and a Mk2 clio.
Cost wise, if you can find out what i paid for the Trophy, it was £125 more...
Thats a steal!!! Although ive had one with that interior before, & it irritated me after a while.
Also, i hadnt seen it/it wasnt for sale last week, or i would have bought it anyway lol.
Well, the 5sp manual & 5sp auto seem to do roughly the same, so i traditionally get 29-31mpg depending on...
In 18 months - TT225, 3 x 330ci Sports, 320d Sport, e46 M3, 197, 330i Touring - 8. Thats not too bad lol :o
I'm just trying to find the perfect combo really. Cant seem to bring myself to sell the Trophy you see ... Also, dont see the point in owning a car if you dont like it. On a test drive...
After buying the 197 on the 31st March, I lasted 19 days without owning a BMW :o
Saw this on PH last Friday evening, viewed it on Saturday afternoon, collected it yesterday morning.
Its a 330i Sport touring with autobox, black leather, heated seats, xenons & sunroof - so all the decent stuff...
