Check the air vents in the car are closed and not pointing to at sensors.
The sensors can be very sensative you can swop the wires on the sensor round and it reduces there sensitivity
It has to have more power they always do.
The 2.0 engine is a problem emmisions wise they could continue to work but the 1.6 is the logical only way forward.
As for the 5 doors nope I don't see it the Megan is the 5 door sized model.
RS models are more common heence there more liklyhood to break also owners usualy drive them harder than 1.2 owners etc.
Also the cost of a new belt for a 2.0 vs 1.2 means more people put it off.
They do break though common enough fit however dealers won't often deal with them as there out of...
Assuming your talking about speed on track etc you don't need any more power to do that or handiling /brakes for that matter.

It can be tunned but if its hp your after drop a 1.8 VAG etc in and tune that be cheaper.

Depends if you want to get your hands dirty worth unplugging the temp sensor which is in the light by the rear view mirror and seeing if you can prove the sensors broken if so new sensor easy job.
If its the motoro or the cogs its more complicated do a search someoen had this problem ages back...
Its never as far as I know been done people prefere to use the f4R instead as its more powerful and newer into Mk2 and Mk1's.

What do you want from the map? THey can if there any good make it to what you wantt ie smoky all out torquee all out hp drivability etc.
depends how good they are few mappers are much use and know what to do.
