I agree you need to do the maths but petrol vs diesel the diesel should do about 50% more anyone who gets 40 from a 1.2 etc will get 55~60 from a diesel. If you want to work out the cost I recon on small cars the diesel is approx 4p a mile cheaper than a petrol to run so say 15k a year thats...
Normally around 45, but now its down to about 38. I fill it up with £35 once a week, but it just doesn't seem to last as long.
Stupid as that sounds but since I don't live in the Uk I don't know but has fueel gone up. My mate once complained about fuel economy being bad but was actually just...
No need to change the oil that often ever 9k or so I did mine even when I was doing a few track days a few times a month (was using racing oils though). Won't hurt the enging just not going to realy help just hurts the wallet.
They are very economicla but thee Mk3 aren't as good extra weight etc to lug round I had one for a bit got about 40~45 adverage on the driving I was doing at the time the Mk2 65 would do about 50~55 with the same driving.
Lowest MPG though you can do about 30mpg is your eealy driving hard on...
1. When I am driving with the windows up, as the rev counter climbs to 2.5-4k RPM, I can hear a 'knocking' sound. It sounds almost like it's coming right out of the instrument cluster. It's not audible if the windows are down. If I just touch the clutch pedal (not depressing it) with my foot...
Jc5130 is from memory the box you have but you could use any JC3/5 box realy some people use diesel in turboed cars. the dci boxes in the 80's have the same strenght nas the 172 ones but do (on 195/50/15) 3k for 80mph.On normal 172 wheels would be a little higher speed for the same revs
There loads of cheap stuff out there which can do a certain level Renault stufff is awquard though and to do the proper diagnostics yyou need to buy a Renault Clip wwhich is a lot more than most are willing to pay
Box and clutch will be the week point realy on a drag raced car. Stock engines drag raced can be pushing them a bit.
Then again depends what your happy to accept. I know one person who was amazed his heavily strengthened gearbox lasted just short 500 miles.
Engine mounts
Intake system
Fuel pump (stock will only laast till about 240hp)
Radiator
Depends whats missing from the engine do you need injectors
Wiring and ECU though its upto you can get a custom loom made and a stand alone ECU etc
Check the fuel level wires. The ECU tries to be intelegent when it doesn't know fuel flow rates etc and guess for a bit before giving up guessing your MPG.
Twin engined k9k would be an intersting project for drag strip.
Or find a car with similar width and drop a CLio sell over the running gear a Suburu would be a good choice just need a bit out the lenght and the rear arches on the clio widening.
If you want a drag race machine though might...
