    Alternatives to broken back box

Oh God, how stupid of me! It's a 172 Ph2 mate. I checked the back box on a Clio 1.4 and it looks pretty much identical.

    Alternatives to broken back box

The back box just broke where the pipe enters the muffler resulting in a embarrassing farting sound wherever I go.. :( I was planning on getting a cat back next year but I still don't know what to get. I really like the look of the recessed exhausts but KTEC is both loud and with questionable...

    Status on Speedline 2108 & 2110

I haven't been in contact with Speedline directly, no. Since I'm located in Sweden most just tell you to contact the importer in your country but I'll give it a shot! Thanks a lot for that link, buddy! They had both 2108s and 2110s in any colour. It's 16x7" I'm after by the way. I'll contact...

    Status on Speedline 2108 & 2110

Haha, you have a set you want to get rid of or what? Nothing wrong with 2118 or 2120 but they are a bit too common I'm afraid.

    Status on Speedline 2108 & 2110

I'm looking at getting either a set of Speedline 2108 (Comp 2) or 2110 (Champion?) in gold for my 172 and found a dealer in Sweden through Speedline's website. Unfortunately they pretty much only sell rally wheels in a batch of >24 wheels and I couldn't find any info about either wheel on their...

    Engine whine when cold

Just guessing here but dephaser? I understand timing belt hasn't been replaced, just aux with water pump, no?

The Fatty's KTEC alternative induction setup that works just as well!

Highly likely. :) I had a cone filter on my last car, a Volvo 850 AWD and the only noise I got with that filter was some turbo whoosh. I'm just surprised more haven't found it a bit too noisy, hell, I should have just bought a Vel Satis instead..

The Fatty's KTEC alternative induction setup that works just as well!

I know, I'm a bit sceptic myself but it really is that loud. The car's completely stock otherwise. We did a few recordings with my phone but obviously the quality is a bit poor and difficult to tell how loud it actually is. /The old man EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention but I did not find it...

The Fatty's KTEC alternative induction setup that works just as well!

Now after waiting two weeks I finally received the pipe and had to fit everything right away. I went for a drive with a friend and after getting the engine up to temp and giving it a bit of throttle I thought it sounded quite nice until I gave it some more and was sure the filter had popped...

    Most cost effective 172 modifications

I wear size 12 and not even my winter shoes catch on the brake pedal. I agree heel-toe can feel a bit awkward but it's definitely doable. I have yet to sit behind the wheel with a helmet on but being 6'2" I appreciate any help I can get. I already find the seating position being far from...

    Most cost effective 172 modifications

I've never heard of this! Is there a guide? I was just wondering on my 150 mile ride home last night if there is anything you can do to the stock seats to lower them slightly.

The Fatty's KTEC alternative induction setup that works just as well!

You can clearly hear the 'throatier' sound with Fatty's IK fitted just as the revs increase. Just the typical cone filter noise really. Hopefully my kit will arrive in the beginning of next week. Good job posting that vid, @dann2707, gives you a decent impression of how it's like.

    RS Tuner 98 Ron review

Thank you very much, chaski. I'm a bit worried about that whole locked ECU ordeal though. Makes me reconsider if it's actually worth it. Now I doubt I would go cams in the near future or ever but knowing that you'll have to replace the ECU, UCH and keys just for a new map sounds absolutely...

Henk can supply you with a custom tune if/when you go for cams or similar down the line, no?

    RS Tuner 98 Ron review

Thank you for the review. I'll buy the RSTuner off of www.fastchip.nl by the end of the month. I've heard it also improves cold starts a lot and although I don't exactly have troubles starting at the moment, it could be nice to have a smoother idle when the temperature drops even further...

    Advise on New Exhaust

Thanks for your honesty guys. I see KTEC is on the cheaper end among aftermarket catbacks but how on earth could they design a system with such noticeable drone?

The Fatty's KTEC alternative induction setup that works just as well!

Fantastic! Just bought the parts in the OP. Definitely beats paying >£100 for the KTEC IK. Thank you Fatty.

    Advise on New Exhaust

Could you elaborate please? I was actually looking at getting a KTEC Stealth after the winter but your post has now gotten me worried. I understand it can be loud and I don't mind that but I couldn't stand drone at motorway speeds so definitely don't want that.

Engine mounts, exhaust mounts, constant knocking front end ??

Read in another thread that knocking can be due to the engine have moved slightly closer to the firewall. Loosen the mount on the driver side and pry the engine away from the firewall and retighten the mount.

    Wheel choice for 182....

I can't believe how good those BBS look! I have the same wheels on my Mk3 Golf but never looked at them that way. They may end up on my 172 now. I understand the 6" width is a bit on the skinnier side but I say keep them!

    are these stock alloys?

If the tyres are good, £150 seems like a fair price to be honest. No offense but I don't see a reason to spend much more for wheels for a stock Clio.

172 electrical gremlins, won't turn over

I did. As the car wouldn't start even when attempting a push start, I doubt the starter's the problem though? As I somehow fried the 5 amp on the side of the dashboard I'm afraid I've somehow fried something else while swapping stereo head units..

172 electrical gremlins, won't turn over

Cheers! I guess that's the one by the gearbox inside the wheel? I was told you need to remove the front left wheel to get to it, correct? Did I feel stupid when I noticed! Car still won't start though. Central locking, alarm etc works perfectly now but still won't even turn around on the...

172 electrical gremlins, won't turn over

Turned out the faulty central locking was due to a burnt 5 amp fuse... Checked the rest of the fuses and the relays by the battery to no avail. Where are the ground points? I know there is one by the gearbox inside the front left tyre inner-fender that I have yet to look at but what else is there?

172 electrical gremlins, won't turn over

Hello, new to the forum and to these cars as well. A bit sad that my first 'contribution' had to be asking for help though.. Got myself a 2003 172 last week with ~44000 miles and it had been working flawlessly but today after swapping the stereo head unit, removing the stock CD changer and the...
