Well due to me being away on holiday for a couple of weeks, Ste @ SC being away, and a lack of getting to the bottom of the brake issue, I'm still without a car. So far we've gone through a new rear caliper, a refurb on the Brembo's, a new master cylinder (went for a 197 item) and leak searching...
Sorry to hear about the troubles you've had with yours. Mine's been a pain as well and has been at SC Autos for weeks (been on holiday and other issues so not their fault) and I just want the bloody thing working. So I feel your pain, must be a Bolton Clio thing lol. Looking forward to seeing it...
I have the same problem, haven't found out what's causing it though. It's in with a garage at the moment. I'll post back up when they find what the cause is.
Car is still getting looked at as it's still got the gearbox/rack/bearing problem that we've not got to the bottom of and also there was a problem with a rear caliper. Been without the car for about a week and it's doing my nut in. SC being helpful though with sorting the car out.
Managed to...
My pal has a Sunflower Ph1 track car that's running the Hi-Spec 4 pots. He's been quite happy with how they've performed. I've not driven it myself but both him and my brother raved about them. That was running AST's, ITB's and slicks so it was getting plenty of punishment.
I've stayed with the standard master cylinder and although there's a slightly longer travel between initial bite and fully applied it's been good. I did consider upgrading to the 197 item but I got used to the pedal feel within about two days and I found the brakes easy to balance on track this...
I ran the 197 Brembo set up at Oulton last week with standard Brembo pads and there was not a hint of fade. The only thing that let it down was the standard 280mm discs have slightly warped. Was only a matter of time before they were changed for Brembo HC or Max anyhow. I've been really...
Hi,
My understanding, from reading a few threads, is that the early Ph2 172s (non-cup) could potentially have come with either the speedo or non-speedo drive box. How's the best way to be able to see this on my car visually? If anyone's got a picture to help the explanation of how to spot it...
Ironically, after giving this answer, I called Renault to try getting a last minute part and found out it's not on the system because it's an import lol.
Well, where to start.
This last week has been a mad one as far as the 172 goes. As per my last post, it was booked in for a driveshaft to be replaced by Ste and the guys at SC Autos but after replacement (of yet another stubborn to remove part) I still had some suspect noises. We thought it...
May be worth looking into getting someone mobile to come out to it and do the diagnosis if going to a garage isn't something you can do easily. I'd take a guess at an issue with an ABS sensor or ring; however, unless you know what you're doing you're likely to end up at a garage to get that...
It was possibly registered new with a private plate. When the car's sold on it's then allocated a plate according to year. Renault wouldn't find out about this from the DVLA though. They should find it off the chassis number though.
