I have no more mk2 172 plenhams in stock, i am awaiting the return of exchange items.
But if your not getting a remap, then only the bottom part is reccomened to err on the safe side.
only on the phase 1 172, the elbow joins to the ISCV and the breather pipe attatches to the bottom of the throttle body.
On the phase 2, the elbow is the crankcase breather.
if you using the std airbox, leave it.
It remains open except for certain part throttle areas where you wont notice it as your not needing the flow.
Its not a restriction, the engine doesn't 'see' it.
dont bother with anything but the std items.
I actually fit them (172/182 leads/coilpack) to other cars (not just rens) when upgrading them to standalone management.
dont make DIY tools, setting of the camshafts on this engine is probably one of the most important things, you certainly dont even want to get it a degree out if you can help it.
