Cant you get deflector plates made up or use some ex cup racer plates? Think Mark Fish does some replicas.
Iv never had problems with my DIY deflector plates
haha yes stick with it buddy you know it makes sense. Do you have any other track days planned? Would be good to pop along, esp if Cadwell, im hoping my car will be roadworthy next week
Oh yea Im not being a cheap skate, however I have a full set of Double Hex and triple square drive sockets, just never had a Spline drive socket set (all have 12 sided splines as you know), from tinkering with Audis and VWs for the past ten years, I just only purchased a set of E-Torx sockets...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Fitted some ARP rod bolts to the donor engine today.
Fairly easy to fit, makes job a lot easier having the engine out.
Shiny new bolts with assembly lube
Torque programmed at 42ftlb
Old bolts
New bolts
..and new sump gasket along...
As luck would have it my local motorstore had one in (second hand) best £3.50 ever spent
I wish car companies would agree on a standard bolt, would safe a lot of hassle and money buying all the correct sockets
As per title?
I can confirm its def not a 10mm 12 sided HEX socket...there is a little movement, so im guessing the bolts are in standard (Imperial) sizes and not metric?
What's best solution, I dont want to end up scratching the hell out of my poly windows, and on that note, any products/techniques to remove swirls/light scratches?
cheers
Thanks guys, think I will get the loctite stuff as as Halfords is only down the road.
Cheers Morgan, I actually forgot I had the workshop study guide, says what you just mentioned.
So on these ARP bolts, is 46 lb ft (62nm) correct, tighten and release 3 times, on 3rd time leave. Done a...
No, on this 182 engine, im just changing to ARP bolts, I might change the oil crank seal (flywheel end). Im also keeping the OEM cams in on this set up.
Why would you advise on not putting sealant on it then unless I have removed the end caps?
Just in the process of fitting some ARP bolts to my 182 replacement engine, I have a new sump gasket to go on. Reading the Haynes manual (for 1.6) as a guide, it says that Rhodorseal 5661 sealant is to be used around the oil seal housing and main bearing cap where it meets the cylinder block...
Good luck James, looks like you will be doing a lot of bedding in. Cant remember if your car is road legal or not? Cadwell is a brilliant track its one of my favs and is fairly easy to learn imo
