There mixed views I woulnd't bother though
As for the use of 100% bio etc I'd keep away its not like the old rules about lusux vs bosh pumps where one works and one doesn't though.
Clutch will need to be uprated and the biox if your hard on it won't last long use a jc5 which is better but even that won't last if you give it any abuse.
Poping out of gear could show engine dogbone mout is worn a new Renault one is the best idea IMo forget stronger/stiffer ones. Take yours out to check if you want. Otherwsie check the gear lever adjustemnt rthen check the clutch /clutch cable is ok could well be the clutch failing.
As for...
Get haynes manual and have a read then.
Unlikly to be the sycro since third gear usualy goes first.
could need new gearbox oil but I'd recon ajustemnt is all it needs .
Err a diesel will do about 50% better mpg so when you spend £100 on fuel a diesel usualy need only £73 (tyhats including for a 10% or so higher costs) I recon depends on your driving mpg that a diesel costs about 9p a mile in fuel a petrol about 12p so over even 10k the diesel has saved you £300...
I've got a feeling there the same or near enough someone ages back fitted a one form a Mk2 phase 1 dci to a Mk2 phase 1 172.
Part numbers dopn't mean it defo dwon't fit since they were strenghtened on later cars.
