Forgive my n00bness, but what purpose do the grooves serve? I had the idea that they were a sort of wear indicator, so when the grooves disappear, the disc is pretty worn.
Would there be any difference between the Ferodos and the Brembo grooved, and the KTR brake kit, which includes the Ferodos and their own grooved discs?
^^ Fair point.
That is the issue really, obviously the pads make no difference (and the hoses), so the only other thing is the discs, which is a really minor item in itself.
I may leave it then if I decide to go ahead, unless anyone suggests the contrary!
Can people who have upgraded their brakes tell me if they declared it to their insurance comp, and if so if it made any difference to their premium?
I would have though you do have to declare it, but I cant see that it would make much more difference. After all, it doesnt make your car faster...
I bet you regret posting this now!
Ive got to admit though, I love seeing cars like this on the road, as it makes me laugh so hard that people think it looks good!
I was contemplating the same before I got a 182.
I got a Clio partly because a CTR was more expensive in pretty much everything. ie. tax, fuel, insurance, and the car itself!
Thanks Tom. The halfords pads are only about £28 if I remember correctly. So if they are crap, I havent wasted a lot of $$$.
I think I'll probably give them a go. I think all the Ferodo, EBCs etc are way more than what I need (for the moment!!)
Ive not had my car long, but this was something I noticed too when bay parking! As you say, it felt as if one of the wheels was slipping, and there was a faint knocking noise (or at least thats what it sounded like!) too, which I assume is related.
£150 on pads!!!!
For 'a little' more I could get this (with the Ferodo pads!)

Do uprated brakes like this affect your insurance? In other word, are brakes something you have to declare? I cant see that it would increase your premium as your...
So the mintex pads are a good buy then?
I ask because Ive seen this on egay:

Is the Haynes manual worth it if youve got a 182? I looked at one the other day, and on the back is specifically said is does NOT cover the RS models :(
Thanks for that caister.
At the moment, I just using the car for commuting, and having a little 'play' every now and then. I dont have any plans to do any trackdays yet.
If the greenstuffs fade under HARD braking, then they may be the pads for me as I wont be driving like an F1 driver on the...
Has anyone tried Ktecs own brand pads?
Only ask because looking on ktecs site, the cheapest pads are the KTR Ultimaxs, then the EBC Greenstuff.
I could get a full (front and rear) set of the EBCs for the price of just the front Ferodos. But would it be worth the extra $$ just for general...
So the Ferodos are great all round pads? Im just worried that im going to be spending more than I want to on pads that arent really designed for general road use. The Ferodos seem to be hardcore track pads!
Whats the difference between these?

They look exactly the same and have the same spec number. So...
Im looking for some new front pads for my 182. Ive read a lot of posts about the EBC pads. Im confused as to which 'colour' pads to get, and a lot of people arent recommending them at all!
Basically, which are the best all round pads (no track use), and which is the cheapest place to get them...
Ive only had mine a week, and noticed this is happening a LITTLE. Can you raise your seat belt up anymore? It kinda depends on how tall you are though.
Apart from that, I cant think of anything to stop it.
