Thanks, Im loving the seats too! They're a lot more comfortable than I thought, but hen Ive only driven short journeys so far. Its a nice novelty driving around corners without falling out the seat, and the car leaning onto its handles like my 1.2 did!
Im absolutely loving it! The power is...
I havent seen many RS clios around Tewkesbury. Although I do often see a black one with grey racing stripes in the morning on my way to work.
If I see any around I'll 'say Hi'!
Ive lingered on here for a while when I was contemplating getting a clio 182. And now, Ive finally got one!! An 05 plate 182FF:D
(excuse the crappy pics, I havent had a chance to shoot this car properly yet, the weather isnt helping either!!)
I bought it Saturday, and I couldnt be happier...
I don't think it is that bad at all. The guy did say it should be pretty easy to 'fix'. I rang an alloy repair place this morning, and they said it would be about £50 to fix.
You could see the buckle when it was on the balancing machine, but it didnt look really bad. Although, it does raise...
But the weird thing is, until yesterday when I was told about it, I wouldnt have ever guessed. There's still no wheel wobble or anything that feels abnormal.
Thats why im in a pickle about what to do!
Got back from having two new PE2s fitted, and the mechanic informs me that the offside front alloy has a slight buckle in it.
He said it was not disastrous, or really bad, but he did recommend that I look into it.
Ive forked out quite a lot on this car this week, and I really dont want to...
My new headunit is Alpine.
Darren, yes I still have the original headunit.
EDIT: Darren, I already have this patch lead:
http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/6751.html
It looks different to the one you posted, but will it work?
So basically, the leads I have are for the older 2005's?
I still dont get how the stalk controls connect to the loom you've just posted. Whats the purpose of the yellow connector coming from the car? Isnt that the stalk controls?
P.S. Is that pic of the main loom have the patch lead attached...
Assuming you have successfully done this, which connectors will I need for an Alpine HU?
The cable on that site I found is this:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/29652-steeringstalk-control-adaptor-p-3474.html?cadid=s7acgl69604hm28ofb1mmpv8d2
Which looks exactly the same as the autoleads one I...
Where is the guide for removing the dash?
Ive become a member but I cant see it!
PS. There's a load of really useful bits of info on those guides so Im glad I signed up!
Sorry should have said:
With the loom all wired up, the HU DOES work, but the remote controls dont work.
So the ISOs plugged into the loom, the yellow to yellow, and the loom plugged into the back of the HU.
I've just found this thread:
http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=234872&highlight=remove+dash
I think this guy is on the exact same situation Im in, 2005 clio 182, and an Alpine HU.
From what he said, it went in fine without removing the dash.
Remove the dash?! Jesus!
I still dont understand how that other loom will work. I assuming the yellow connector is the controls for the stalk, so without it, how is it going to work?
Any advice on the dash removal if that is what I have to do ;)
But that yellow connector HAS to come from the stalk, so without it, how do you send controls from the stalk?! The other connections are only the power and speaker outputs etc.
If you dont use the yellow connector, surely the controls wont work?!
Yeh the instructions for the other loom mentions dash removal. BUT I there wasnt a yellow connector on it! So where does that plug into?!
Im soooo confused.com!!
So Im trying to setup my new head unit so I can keep the stalk controls. (btw my car is a clio 182 2005)
Ive bought what I think are the correct leads.

Reading some of these quotes, im really wondering if my quote is to good to believe!
21yo, 3yrs NCB = £599 (for an 05 clio 182FF)
I first entered my details to those crappy comparison sites, and I was getting about £1000-1100. But i tried direct line, and viola!!
I was just wondering what mods are possible that don't affect the mpg significantly.
I've heard mixed things about ECU remapping etc, some say this has no effect, other say it does.
What about induction kits? Any effect?
Opinions on this?
When I get the clio im looking to buy, I will need to change the brake pads (front and back).
I have a mate you says he'll do it for a few beers, but my question is do I need any specialist tools to remove the callipers etc?
Or to put it simply, do I need any other tools apart from the obvious...
Thanks for the reply.
I appreciate the cost will vary, I was just after a rough idea. ie. £200, £400....
Are the pads easy to do? Bearing in mind I have NO experience with automotive servicing etc.
EDIT: What sort of pads would I want for general road use. I wont want any high performance race...
Im looking at a Clio 182 Cup to buy, the one im looking at needs two new tyres, so I will need that done asap.
But it will also need a service in about 4000 miles (its at 42000 atm).
So how much would the usual service be INCLUDING 4 new brake pads and an anti freeze top up.
Im new to Clio...
Im going to see a Clio 182 Cup some time next week, Ive had an AA check performed on the car, and the overall result is that the car is very good, apart from a few little niggles.
1. The two front tyres need replacing ASAP!
2. The rear brake pads need changing, and the fronts could do with...
Ok, ive really been looking into this A LOT!
My only other serious alternative to getting a clio, would be a type r.
So my question is simple: Why would I want a Clio over a type r? (OR vica versa!)
Reasons Im sticking to a clio so far:
- I can get a much better clio for the same price...
They're not a major concern, its obviously something I have to think about though.
As I have no experience with this sort of car, I was just wondering how it compared to a 1.2 lol!
