I couldn't let my 182 not feature in this video since the new Alpine A290 is sort of the car's spiritual successor. Not least because several former Renault Sport engineers actually worked on this car.
The Clio shots in this video are clips pinched from our unpublished Clio 182 vs EP3 CTR...
Oh hai! They do make a good impression of ITBs with an induction kit. Although I would love to go fully ITBs one day…
Can’t wait for the next one at Curborough!
Reawakening this old thread because the Clio (which I've owned since 2011..) is getting more and more use these days. Might be something to do with new cars being so big and heavy, and the one-tonne 182 feeling like a proper palate cleanser. The other day I attended a small sprint day at...
I have to admit, as a Clio owner, I do find the weight of modern cars quite shocking. But when you get behind the wheel of a 2.2-tonne Hyundai that's more entertaining to drive than some sports cars, you do stop thinking about it. Honestly, this is one of the most fun cars I've ever driven...
I might give the ride height a check, but when I set it a couple of years back it was quite high on the struts. You can see in the pic below that it's fairly sensible, height-wise.
It probably doesn't help that I'm running -3 degrees camber up front so the mid-corner grip is pretty massive, so...
Ah yes, you're right, they are internal. Good knowledge! The dampers still do a good job of keeping the car stable (there's no bounce, even under heavy load), it's just when the car's properly loaded through a bend and there's a bump for the outside front to deal with, that they seem to run out...
I've been running Bilstein B14s on my car for a few years now and am still very impressed with them. I like the fact they're compliant enough for a bumpy British B-road, but I've noticed that when they're fully compressed, they can smash into the bump stops with a pretty horrendous 'bang'.
Does...
I must admit, the Alpine badges are fraudulent, but that doesn't stop this car from being brilliant. Just wish they actually did a proper hot hatch version...
If you account for inflation, it's not as different as we probably all think. The corrected below price is about what you'd have paid for a nicely-specced Fiesta ST before they killed the model off last year 😣
And that's dispite the amount of tech, safety features and literal car (they're all...
Almost proud of my car for having an issue that a garage of 40 years has never seen before on any car. My ABS, ESP and SERV lights come on together every now and then, and my ABS either fires unnecessarily or it doesn't work at all. So I took the car to a garage who plugged it in, and noted that...
I've been lucky enough to drive F3, GTE and LMP3 cars for work, but this Hayabusa-powered featherweight is the most reactive one I've driven yet! New video here. Buddin g F1 drivers, contact Le Mans Coupes if you fancy one 😜
I've been driving the hybrid Renault Clio E-Tech for a new review, and I must say, it doesn't half go alright. Nippy, great riding and decent to look at, it feels like a proper city baguette that can easily handle life on the motorway. Would I take it over a Fiesta mHEV? Probably not, but only...
How different the world was when this thread was last contributed too...
I recently switched to -3 degrees on the front and the tinest amount of toe out and it's transformed the car. I once ran -4 (for a few weeks) and it was so darty it felt like a proper race car (I've raced a Mini JCW...
A very Clio-relevant video here: Hyundai i20 N at Rockingham. I genuinely think this car feels like the Clio 182's spiritual successor of the 2020s, so I'm very happy to report that it (like the Clio) has punched well above its weight on our leaderboard
For anyone interested in Rockingham's timesheets (no? Just me then..), we've set a new production car lap record on the National Circuit with the GT3 RS in this video. And guess what, we've also set an overall lap record with a track car that's due to feature in a video next month. Any guesses...
I am so relieved that this lived up to the hype. This or a Cayman GT4? That's a tricky one - although as a daily driver the Lotus and its forgiving ride would be hard to beat...
The annual Goodwood Media Day is increasingly becoming a great way for growing channels and content creators to get behind the wheel of cars that they would otherwise not be granted access to. I've been struggling to get press cars from McLaren and Maserati, but at this year's media day, I...
But can you guess how much by? Here's a clue: it was VERY close. New video here, for those who are interested and want to see some Seven 420 R dancing...
As promised! We're the first title to publish a video review in Britain, so I'm pretty chuffed with the turnaround - we filmed on Tuesday. Sod's law said it would be the rainiest day of the week. Anyway, the FL5 is MEGA.
Good news - I've just received an invite to the UK launch of this car at Thruxton in January. So watch this space for when we produce our video, hopefully before the end of that month (embargo tbc).
I'm praying the cold snap lifts by then because lairy CTR vs wintry cold at Thruxton is...
Finally, we've been allowed to go live with our review of the Everrati GT40 MkII, which uses a genuine continuation chassis and body, and two electric motors. It produces 800hp and 800Nm of torque, although this prototype was capped at 100mph. Given how slippery Rockingham was that day, I was...
I won't be the only one on CS who's played with tyre pressures. I normally run my 182 on recommended front psi and 40psi at the rear, because I like the agility it enables. But I've never considered the road safety aspect.
This video attempts to test safety above all else with braking and...
