I have the opposite experience, the RS-Rs over heated and wore really quickly, 888s seem to take all the punishment and have lasted two extra track days!
Yes, slightly slower. Taking RS-Rs as the standard as they're what I used most, the Nankangs were about 1.5s slower, 888s about almost second faster on a 1.5 mile circuit. The Nankangs were the 180 compounds though, not tried 120s, doubt I'll stray from 888s now though
Hello mate, still not finished the battery relocation and kill switch wiring, been busy and the weather's been crap, the black thing hogs the garage lol. I'll be getting rid of the carbon canister and anything else that looks like it can go  Definitely doing poly Windows at some stage...
Ds2500 are decent and wear very well. Rc6 performed really well, but the the dust, ruined wheels and stupidly fast wear rate means I'll not use them again. Ds1.11 are a perfect mix of the two, great wearing and performance.
Good info! It was yours I was thinking of copying lol
Any idea if bonded in fronts will pass an mot? Also, is Marguard worth the extra on a track car, is lexan that hard to keep if no sliders?
Thanks Arran :) I was actually thinking about not having sliders, as much as I like the look, just a pop-it vent each side to get round the moisture issue but still let some air in. I need to keep this mot'd though so unsure if they would be a fail as I would want them bonded in so they...
Well I've not looked near the Clio since the last track day, time to address that! Decided, because race car to relocate the battery behind the passenger seat and finally wire the kill switch, nothing to do with boredom and work being quiet, honest!
Made a start tonight after fitting the stud...
Most use 15s as tyres are cheaper, paradas are awful even on the road, I use 888s and love them, also look at Federal rsr or nankang ns2r, bit cheaper and pretty good if on a budget
I wouldn't use Rc6 again, I killed them pretty quickly, DS1.11 have the same stopping power but slightly less dust, less noise and much better wearing!
Yes, it costs more to start from scratch.....but the build is half the fun, and it doesn't have to be done in one hit, drive, enjoy and upgrade as you go, 172Cup is the way to go for a track car IMO. I've had mine 18 months, just done a full year of track days and I'm still tinkering :)
Epic fail at yesterdays foggy track day! My cam was only taking stills, I had the remote wrapped around the cage near my leg and I obviously was pressing buttons ffs 😧
Clio story in pics, to be different
I want to join the party
