Yup.
Federals - cheap nasty sh*te.
Michelin Exaltos - one of the best you can get
Your car is so out of balance grip wise because of this that whenever it's wet you're at risk of this happening. get the Federals binned, or replace the Michelins with some for some all round slip-slidy fun.
2nd car.
I've got a 1.6 Focus that has done 115k miles, feels like it's easily got another 115k miles still to go, is worth £1,500 or maybe £1,700 tops, costs pennies to run, and driving sanely or otherwise it gives as many smiles per mile as my Cup.
Jeans/t-shirt for me so I get the choice...
Weight affects acceleration...not top speed...i.e. how long it takes to reach top speed, but not ultimately the top speed itself.
Technically you would/could have been going faster with the weight than without it, as it would reduce the frontal drag area by lowering the car.

Along with removing the power steering, fitting this improved my RR figures at Surrey RR by 10bhp...so about...
You are so so wrong!
How does that work then? Brakes aren't safe for slowing cars down? Agreed you shouldn't stand on them at 70mph...squeeze on and ease off is what you should be doing...
You should not use the gears when slowing a car - 99.9% of the motoring populous have no idea what...
