No it's not just you, it is needlessly pointlessly different in every way. All right for piddling about on the net but useless for actually doing anything, looks pretty though which does it for 99% of average joe users.
Re: Cro's r27 f1
You're trusting the engine out of that, jesus I hope it was cheap thats had some serious heat. That's a rebuild candidate not a drop straight in one.
I really can't overenthuse how much better/easier/cheaper it will be to just buy a 1*2 in the first place, lots and lots of people have come on there and thought they knew better doing a conversion.
You'll have the engine in for a reasonble ammount yes but what about the rest. Really, just buy...
Probably rings to be going through it that fast, cheapest and easiest option would be a replacement engine yes. Should be able to get a D7F for peanuts on ebay etc.
They work great but not all the rods have flats on them and access can be difficult, the megane ones don't have flats for example. You need a camlock tool to do them.
You can just order them from a non knobhead dealer, when I got mine last year it about about £50. Great piece of kit, you can get them from the normal manufacturers though too. Ebay is full of them (or was)
There should be no change in coolant level when you check it at the same temperature. Its a sealed circuit it doesn't go anywhere unless there is a leak.
I've got a Synology 1812+, Microserver and a full size Nextenastor box. All have their merits in certain areas, the Synology is probably the best for most users average home users but the price reflects that.
Are there any ID letters on the head? Just out of curiosity for what it actually is more than anything. Should stamped into a machined surface somewhere usually the timing end cover gasket face.
Would imagine its a 1.8t 16v head of some variety.
Would need to look at the water circuit diagram to be 100% but I don't think you'll be able to as the heater matrix is the only return to the pump before the thermostat opens. This is iirc.
Assuming it's not a Cup dead PWM pack without a doubt. Either new one at circa £100 or you can replace the power transistor for much less if you are handy with a soldering iron.
I can well imagine was amazed how easily I managed to get hold of it actually. Had to have 3 or 4 attempts at sync'ing the cydia repos though got there in the end, just have to keep trying.
