Afternoon guys,
I have just come to inspect my rocker cover prior to refitting the head and have noticed this damage on the end,
If you look where the cam will sit closest to the camera you can see a piece is missing.
Is this going to cause the rocker cover to be scrap you can it still be...
Not that I can see, maybe I just need to keep going?
I left the head filled over night and lost perhaps 1-2ml out of two cylinders, so its not all escaping!
Its not pouring out my any means just a little seep - I will have another go later I suppose!
Bloody valves! Some of the inlet valves are still passing a small amount despite this being the second time I have lapped them!
Each valve head has a continuous dull ring all the way round so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong? Maybe invest in one of those drill valve lapping tools and give it...
You cant really see much in the exhaust ports because of the carbon build up! I will have another look later on but I think im going to have to spend a little more time on it!
Filled all of the dishes in the head with valves and springs installed, filled with thinners and over the period of about 3-4 hours I think I might have lost a ml or so
Is that acceptable as a good seal?
Yeh got another one with a slipped belt but I don't want to spend a fortune replacing valve guides if possible.
How much are we saying is too much then guys? Or just check them and find the ones that are worse (if that makes sence)
Yes yes yes I should have ordered the genuine one! but that still does not answer my question!
Is there and easy way to tell the two idlers apart?
Cheers Sam
When I built my rally car I asked the msa about this, I was told that to get a log book I would need to have one as its an msa rule.
Bloody stupid I know but you may find you need one for a logbook.
(you can't just take the fuel line off the rail either)
I rallied in the 205 challenge and that had it about right. My idea of a budget championship would be something like:
Standard ecu
Air con delete
bilstien b14's
15,s with a control tyre
Standard brakes with say any of the mintex pad range
One of the stainless exhausts...
Has any one got any pictures of the 172cup/ 182 wishbones fitted with balljoints to give me an idea of the standard locations?
I'm going to modify mine again to reduce castor slightly but also rubbing
