Right been at it for 30mins and there is no way the cable threads through as something is stopping it physically, it's the end that attaches to the handbrake adjuster that's too big.
Anyone help us out, getting a bit angry with it now
Got one from RPD which happens to be the side that went ping and the other off eBay after someone on here recommended it as quite a few don't fit.
I'll report back tomorrow regards fitting them but couldn't understand why the one I took off wouldn't pass through the hole.
Quicky lads,
I am changing both cables tomorrow - car is currently on axle stands after i took out the one that had snapped.
I have an idea of what's involved however when I took the knackered one off it wouldn't slide through the hole as the the nipple end (oh er) was obviously too big.
I...
@clio_ross Yeah I thought it looked pretty decent really at first glance, expected to maybe see the rubber shot but looks in good nick I agree.
I'll track a specialist down although there isn't that many down my way in Manchester unless I get hold of Carl but bit reluctant! sorry Carl if your...
Got a funny feeling it is now!
If I was to whip the wheel off and liner would i be able to tell by looking at it? I'll definitely get it looked at properly just pushed for time to do it.
Waterpump was done with the belts and air con works fine. I am tempted to get the pulley changed still as I'm sure I read somewhere it should be changed when you have the belts done.
Gutted they are £140 though :(
Yep my thoughts aswell seeing as Carl did all the belts etc a few months ago.
Is this a specialist job or can my local friendly Garage do it? not cheap are they @ £142 either :(
Ok, here goes, managed to grab some video and you can clearly see the belt stopping and starting.
This was constant when on full lock, it still did it when turning normally ie pulling off a kerb at a slight angle and I heard it when i turning the engine on straight away too - only a hint of it...
Great that Mbeau, thanks.
I will try and look at it tomorrow and see if i can record the sound it makes. I did get the Mrs to drive it very slowly whilst the bonnet was up but I never seen anything that looked out of place down near the belts - I did think the tensioner was maybe too close to...
Ok so narrowing it down now, ruling out the belts and tensioner will it most likely be the PAS pump or the belt like White16valver suggests?
It wouldn't be a CV joint or maybe a balljoint would it? only really happens when slow turning the wheel.
No pics but found this in my emails, all from RPD.

Alrite Mbeau,
I don't think the tensioner was done tbh, I'd ask bloke but I guess he ain't around on here now! In the meantime, is it possible to check this myself?
I'll have to track down a new specialist in the North West!
Evening all.
Here goes. I am getting a like metallic like screech sound on full lock and for the first time today I heard the same type of noise when I started the the car up then it went virtually straight away.
It's a piercing noise that sounds bloody awful, I did notice the other month -...
Best place to get a set from for my 182 please lads?
One sides gone on mine and finally decided to sort them out.
Checked RPD and one side is oos and heard ECP ones don't fit.
Cheers.
Bump.
Right Leds came, fitted them and they work BUT the display is still not very bright - not how it used to be plus you can only see the display If the lights are on(n)
Fiddled with the little wheel thingy but that just dulls the speedo lights.
Is it worth trying owt else? Normal bulbs...
I'll give that another go, pretty sure I tried every way known to man though!
I've ordered some others in the meantime, will update with results not that anybody's bothered!!
Well annoyed (n)
Took the top dash off to get at the bulbs replaced them with some blue leds, swapped the orange filter film out replaced with some white film connected back up and nothing :(
I checked the leds compared to the ones I took out and they seem to be missing some contacts where...
Belts, waterpump and oil change done today by the legend that is bloke, thanks again Sir and I'd highly recommend his services and will no doubt use again... probably sooner than I think!!
I now need to sort out a handbrake niggle, hoping it's not a Karlos above! spent enough for the time being...
