We should go with Torque @ wheels and then BHP @ wheels.
Thats another good result for a Cup in the last few days. What was the torque at wheels figure (lbs/feet) DannyBoy?
Ive been looking at the engine conversion for the 306 GTi and guess what £1200 + vat. This includes cylinder head modifications and revised camshaft timing and all work and fitting. They dont get give any bhp figures for this.
To get the best results the chip needs to be mapped in to take into account the modifications on the car. This is why Unichips give really good results however I understand they have to cut into the wiring loom to fit it.
Other chips can be programmed in place while the cars on the rollers and...
My understanding is that the only real figure read by a rolling road is Torque@ the wheels. BHP @ wheels is calculated from torque and flywheel bhp is again calculated.
Other factors such as the size of the wheels and the gear ratio used to take a reading make difference as well.
On the face...
I know for sure that the 172 MK1, 172 MK2 and 172 Cup have different ECUs ! It will be good to compare all the cars at the future rolling roads.
I have a hunch that standard Cups will show more bhp/torque @ wheels than standard 172s. Ive spoken to several tuners about this and it might be down...
So am I correct in saying that the only engine modifications performed have been to the cylinder head? Im sure this will give results - dont know how much though. Do other cars make similar bhp with a reworked head? 28 bhp from head work - what do you think BenR?
Had a look on their site and couldnt find any reference to Clios. Will be interesting to hear how they claim to get 200 bhp from a single throttle body. Tuners I know that have fitted reprofilled cams havent seen expected claimed results - less than 5 bhp peak. The std. head is supposed to be...
I had the same problem as VR6man and Simon172 and thanks to their advice told the local Renault Dealer what to do and they fixed it. had the problem for nearly a year and a half and now its gone. The only time I get axle tramp which is a slight different noise is if I try and floor it in a low...
Hi DannyBoy.
Coz of my mods. I need them to do a custom map on the car rather than load the standard SuperChip 172 map.
On a standard 172 I think they just serially reprogram the existing ECU. With mine they must have to run the car on the rolling road and read engine variables in real time...
Sorry to hear that mate. Sounds like you have to be really careful around your area - didnt you have an incident recently? Where is it you live again?

Bill top stuff. Ill be popping around there soon then to find out about getting the 172 Chipped with a remap plus I want to see what they can do with my inlet manifold. Nice one.

Nice one mate ! Ive heard the name before but wasnt sure if it was the same one. Guy I know with a 16v has taken his there recently and got some work done. Ive heard they do NOS there as well.
What do you think of them?

Tim - I have spoken to a tuner that has fitted those Kent Cams to their car and unfortunately they didnt get those claimed results.
They saw less than 5 bhp gain.
Colombo & Bariani of italy, Technomap and efjie do 172 cams as well.
