Don't go any further than that, please!
Great car, great car combo.
I've got an MY00 classic and Ph1 172 - just need a rear wheel drive V8 to complete my ideal garage.
Just do the cable tie fix = sorted.
The wipers sound like blocked jets so just unblock them with a needle. If that doesn't sort it you need a new washer pump - about £13 from GSF or ECP.
The tripmeter sounds odd. I'd take the dash off myself and see if the black needle is connecting right with...
It's not possible to do a 'full' strip down of a throttle body and put it back together properly, you'll likely bend the shaft slightly getting the screws out to remove the plate. Buy a new one - I had one that I kept cleaning for years (as I'm tight!). I bought an unused one and the car drives...
Hi M8, I am not on the forum all that often but I will try and post a diagram tonight showing how to cable tie the connector. What's wrong with your washers - not spraying or not wiping?
So far my best lap time is about 1 hour and low 20s. But that was walking round the circuit on one of many visits to watch racing. I live 4 miles away and must get my 172 Ph1 and Impreza on the track.
I had the same car (and manual!) and I agree, it wasn't covered exactly the way my engine was laid out. With some deduction work though you can get an understanding from the manual of how things work, but you'll get better info from here or other forums (you just need to know who to take advice...
I've got the one that Chip-mk1 posted up, but I thought you were also supposed to use something to hold the rack at the same time?
Anyways, it worked on mine with no fluid loss and has been fine since.
Ok. Next time you run the clio for about 30 mins or so stop the car, leave it for five mins, then open the bonnet and put your hands good and tight on the inlet manifold and count to zero slowly backwards from 10. Then come back and tell us it wasn't hot! Actually, don't it won't be nice!
On my Ph1 172 this was due to the connector by the horn not making good contact. Do the wire wiggle test to see if the lights come on. A fix is to squeeze the connector with grips to make a better contact.
They seem to be missing the metal ring, but you can't really tell for sure. I suspect without the ring thing these will 'go west'. There's others on there with the ring you just have to measure the hole to order the right ones.
I can echo the reputation he has with Subaru owners, mind you alot Subaru brakes are just awful as std compared to the Clio. I have high carbon front discs and DS2500 pads, with SS brake lines and cheap as chips compared to going to Ian at Godspeed for newer stuff IMO. Ian does though run a...
Someone will along soon to say 'do a search', but in the meantime:
Check the usual stuff like corrosion (smell the boot, footwell areas to make sure there's no damp), the VIN number is displayed and it has legal tyres and a legal exhaust (no de cat, unless that's what you want!).
The test drive...
I rarely bother to reply to these threads anymore, but you're wasting your money going for power in an RS Clio. Get it on a track and learn how to drive it at the limit and you'll find it's fast enough (unless this is more about Maccy D car park stuff!).
Re: anyone know any video or website that can show me how to take out a gearbox in my
No, but on here there are links to the manual (it used to be called 'dialogys') that explains how to do it. You'll need to pay your subscription to the forum though.
Most cars in this thread are barely run in. I'm currently on 190,601, but it's the second engine. The first one is currently under some sheeting outside waiting for a rebuild after doing 140,000, it went to 125,000 on the original clutch. I only changed the engine when I had it tested at Surrey...
