I see you're a Ford fan ;) tbh I think the whole Astra vs Focus is personal opinion really, everyone argues for their own one! Personally I prefer the Astra, looks sportier to me, got offered a better deal on one, and heard nothing but good from people who own the same car (two neighbours!) so I...
Definitely worth a look then :) You ever use Trafalgar products? They used a Trafalgar lemon scented dash protector, it smells heavenly! When talking to the guy he even gave me a tin for free to keep, can't stop using it!
Car seems mirror to me, can't see any holograms etc :) Like you I thought it'd be a bit dodgey polishing but seems pretty good to me! I have some AG tar remover, shall I get some Iron-X too? Is Hydro2 something you use after the car is polished? So SRP then Hydro-2?
They actually have a really nice bloke who comes in and does it had a good chat to him at lunch when I went there for the wipers. He seemed to know his stuff, he had alot of polishes in black bottles, 3M IIRC?
Thanks :) There seems to be alot of hate to anyone who uses the word "detailing" in any way that isn't seen as "correct", I figured detailing just meant keeping it spotless/immaculate in as many areas/details as possible. Hence I used this word as I'd like to keep things clean like the engine...
Hmm maybe I should have phrased that better, I can tell this is going to resort to one of those bash the OP threads and a 'what is detailing' discussion. I'm looking for as close to the look of a 'detailed car' as possible for a medium to low effort.
Addicted, sounds good I'll take a look!
Good to know! Pretty much the only mod I'm planning at the moment bar the chilled glovebox (can be added for 1.50 on a glovebox switch...), and maybe some LED bulbs.
Re: Advice on detailing items please! (I understand it's been spoken about before, so
They really are, made by Kent Car Care IIRC and also available on Amazon for only a few quid. I have a couple and couldn't rate them higher.
Haha, didn't want to get anything too powerful as safety first and all that! Glad he didn't have any problems with it :) Planning a couple of subtle mods more for usability than anything, firstly the washers are like the standard Clio ones, but you can fit Insignia ones easy with no modification...
I got into the whole detailing thing with the Clio and bought a DA, polishes etc until I had so many bottles of stuff and spent so long cleaning the car it was getting a bit annoying!
Having just got a new car which is black, I don't particularly want to spend forever cleaning it but don't want...
Well what can I say really, it's an Astra (awaits Vauxhall hating crowd!)
Top spec with all the toys, 18k Miles, New set of Goodyear tyres, Auto everything etc. Very happy with it! Got my years no claims soon and wanted a flasher car now I have to do motorway driving and also have a good job so...
Sworn at it and wished it would just sell quicker. On the plus side, full set of mats and boot mat have arrived for the new car which I should pick up tonight!!!
Not sure about MK2, but in the MK3 theres even the cutout marked on the back of the headlining ready for it to be cut. Had a look on a breakers car recently.
I have the same kit as Leeshez (Good kit, quite happy with it!) and mines to the right of the steering wheel above the headlight adjust switches etc, alright place for it as its hidden behind the wheel when driving normally but you only have to move slightly to see it, so the glare doesn't get...
1) Hesitant when cold; think it may be Coil, leads / sparks (what parts to buy?)Mines like that a bit, just a very slight hesitation lower down the revs when cold? Always put it down to the smaller engine to be honest as it goes away quite quick when warmed up a bit.
2) Right indicator coming on...
As Fred said, fully synth oil is better and allows you to go longer between oil changes, and there are two types either paper or filter, it can be seen through the wheel arch from the drivers side.
Ah so 105 and 205 would be a good combo? :) Yeah did think it was a cheap knockoff of a DAS-6, but it seems to have pretty good reviews online, and to be honest I just wanted it to start off, to polish the car the first time and gain some experience.

Used these on the MK3 when the top mount knocked, it was because theres one washer on the top that corrodes or...
Been looking at everything, had my mind set on Meguiars 105 and 205 earlier, then someone talked about 80 and 83, now i'm confused again! Want someone to say "Buy this and this and its what you need to get a nice finish" Haha!

Not Renault but cheap enough and seems to have everything you'd need?
