    Still got very fast indicators!!!

So they say! Get a second opinion - try asking Carlton Garage in Exmouth. Generally, I'd never ask a main dealer (although Fish Brothers Renault in Swindon so far have been pretty good).

Upper gearbox mount- turning upper nut looks like its going to rip the rubber mount

Re: Upper gearbox mount- turning upper nut looks like its going to rip the rubber mou What's all that weird ducting do in the bottom picture?

    Difference in 172-182!

Yes, the manifold is different. No, don't bother (it needs a link pipe and requires dropping the subframe to fit it). It is a 5% power increase to make up for the extra weight in the 182. Power to weight is the same across the Clio RS range (obviously not including the V6).

    still gearbox mount trouble

I only removed the bottom two 10mm bolts on the ECU, I didn't fancy disturbing that part more than I had to. Cheers

Upper gearbox mount- turning upper nut looks like its going to rip the rubber mount

Re: Upper gearbox mount- turning upper nut looks like its going to rip the rubber mou The mount goes on the top. It is an easy job if you think it all through and the top 18mm nut comes off. Not easy when the top nut won't come off, but then it isn't difficult to take all the frame off and...

    still gearbox mount trouble

As KP said, there should be two 18mm nuts on the 'pin bolt' - there are on my Ph1 172. You can buy a new bolt and new nuts from Renault. If the tripod is damaged you can buy a new one from Renault or from someone like Cliospares second hand (in fact he'll also be able to sell you the pin bolt...

    still gearbox mount trouble

Take the 18mm nut off and just knock the bar downwards gently. Remove the two 13mm nuts and lift it off. Replace. Easy. I did mine on my Ph1 172 last Friday. It is very simple if the nut on top will come off - mine wouldn't because it was fitted by Arnie so I had to take the whole damm...

    Difference in Track

Whatever happened to Edde, he knew all this sort of (boring) stuff. I too thought it was mainly about the wheel offset differences :S. When I fitted 172 Cup shocks to my Ph1 172 the wheel alignment was out by miles (cue the American car wheel noise at traffic islands) I then got the impression...

Adrian Flux - Lost the Plot lol ...

As with so many things at the moment, there is just no standard level of service. For example, I've bought a lambda sensor recently from GSF for a price of £56, Renault wanted some stupidly daft money (over £120 IIRC) and even ECP were asking £85. I've just seen it on a well known specialist's...

    Ph1 Radiator

Look at the bottom hose and check for staining as it comes away from the radiator - at the point where the smaller hose joins it. If you can see staining then it is a leak. May be caused by the fan housing being warped. This can then vibrate on the radiator and wear a groove causing a leak. If...

    lambda sensors. Cleanable?

Cleaning mine seemed to make it worse. I got a new Bosch one from GSF for £55 or thereabouts.

Ph1 172 idle issues with video + pics

It should be stamped on the TB, on top there should be a metal plate. If it isn't I will go and look on my car.

Ph1 172 idle issues with video + pics

I was meaning second hand TBs - hell don't buy new, they cost loads. Get in touch with a scrap dealer and order a few (the Clio one is shared by some Megane models - I paid £10 for the one that eventually worked properly and it came off a Megane, it is same part number). No easy way to tell if...

Ph1 172 idle issues with video + pics

I have had many idling problems with my ph1 172 and the best fix overall was a replacement throttle body (and replacement cable). There isn't a sensor under the pedal on ph1's. I tried three second hand TBs before I got a good one and it's made a massive difference in terms of idle and...

Rad Gone - Where best to buy from??

Forgot to add - the fit is ok from these people but isn't 100%. I had no serious problem fitting it and it has worked great ever since. The problem is getting at all the screws (on a ph1) involving removal of bumper and cross member. If it leaks due to the fan housing wearing a groove then...

Rad Gone - Where best to buy from??

I paid about 60 in total, new. Ad... something or other from somewhere in the North. Can check receipt later for details. Buy from Renault - funny joke!

    New rear wiper not wiping!

Although not 100% effective mine wipes all the glass (ph1 172).

Colour of lambda (oxygen) sensor on removal

Just wanting to ask those who have replaced their lambda sensor what colour it was when they took it out. I expected it to be black and slightly oily but mine by light brown/cream coloured. I wonder if my engine is running too lean.

    Passenger Door

The solenoid has gone, needs a new one. Take off the door card, unscrew the three screws holding the lock in place and pull off the plastic fob that links a metal rod to the outside door handle. The with some fiddling about remove the old lock mechanism and go get another from the local scrap...

The clio has finaly made shed of the week on PH.

Yet another version of the 0-60 time quoted and no mention that it weighed just 15 kg than the phase 2 Cup.

    Overheating when idling

Did it lose any coolant? If it did then look at the joints on the hoses for a white residue left behind. If you've had the car for sometime and it hasn't done this before then perhaps there is a fault - a sensor or thermostat fault I'd bet. But, when you do a coolant change you need to run the...

    Removal of Roof Gutters?

Do you mean the channels on the roof on both sides that run from the drivers door back to the spoiler? If so they are held on by a clip that needs to be replaced before refitting. They are removed by prisinf them off from the outside. I mean to replace mine as the rubber seal has split below...

South West Xmas meet. 17th December. Nandos

Did this happen? I went there but it was after 7.30 and all I could see was a Pug Rallye and one 182 - and no one there.

    why swich to 15's?

I also find PE2s start to play up a bit by tracking in every direction when they get about 60% worn. Great when new though.

    Striping interior

Remove the cross member attached to the seats from the boot by unscrewwing the two bolts. Should come out after doing that.

    Weight? (strippage?)

MarkCup did something similar to his 172 Cup. Can't remember the exact details, but you should find it all via a search. Has led to a car with about 200 BHP/tonne up from the standard power to weight ratio of approx 165 BHP/tonne. Best power gain money can buy!

    Lift off clunk

Mine starts to do this asthe weather becomes colder. All mountings and bushes are new (ARBs, Dogbone stabilizer, Strut mounts and engine mounts). Only notice it in 1st and 2nd gear. Pain in the a*se, but there it is!

    Racking up the miles?

Mine's on 147,000. Clutch replaced late summer although apparently it still had some miles left in it. Going by Sir Dave, perhaps I'm changing the oil too often (every 5000 miles).
