nybody relocated their oil filter on a 172? considering doing this for convenience and to make it easier to fit TBs. Also, the adaptor can carry an oil temp/pressure sensor to feed info to a new gauge on cockpit. badly missing on 172s.
While were on the subject, anybody fit a scavenge pump...
1 mine has
2 yes
3 orange - couldnt care less about colour
4 flush-ish
5 various interpretations ranging from "floor it" to run it in gently. Perso opted for former. wait for engine/gearbox oil to warm up nicely though and use precise/light gear change movements. change oils after 1k and...
thanks for pointing that out. Ill remember to call reno first and get a reference or something if I need to have the windscreen/windows replaced.. (hope Im not gonna jynx the car now )
the windscreen isnt heat reflective and the side windows are thinner too. good question about windscreen fitters knowing about this. They probably dont!
cupped up, Im removing the rear seats for the summer as my kids are away and I will be on track every other weekend. With the seats in, the harness conveniently goes through the gap between the rear seat base and backrest.
morbius you can get yourself a lightweight "racing" mirror similar to those fitted to the super1600 clios. its minimalist, very thin stalk (no power adjustment) and would look good on a black/silver clio.
unless you want noise, id stick with the std airbox, put a replacement filter in e.g. itg, green, bmc for about £40. While youre at it move the airbox, remove the air feed hose at the bottom of it and replace with a 50mm hose going behing the lower front grille. put the standard airbox back in...
if your 172 is a mark 2 (jul 2001 >) you cant decat as the cat has 2 lambda sensors either side of it. On BMC/Viper Exhaust and chip you will spend between £700 and £1k and if done properly you will gain max 10 bhp. which means your standard 172, usually pulling 165-70 or so will be somewhere...
nice work. I had mine fitted at Owen developments, but Im off to Millways in 10 days time to have a remap after some mods, as Owens couldnt book me in. Sounds like youre happy with Millways. Who did the mapping?
Oh by the way, do you know what the external temperature was when you ran the...
noo noo ive told you what the reason was, also forgot to say the lip on the cup front spoiler increases max speed by 4 km/h (thats a true statement - straight from the gonzobbos on renaultsport). its all part of a development plan with hundreds of hours puuurfecting the cup in sterilised...
piper cams have a moderate road profile cam, nothing too wild, 265 degrees or so and about 10mm lift. Claimed 12 hp increase 1500-6500 rpm range. Or slightly more agressive cams at 286 degrees, 12mm lift and 2500-7000 rpm range. Views?
thats not a problem. can replace the FBW assembly in a second (maybe two) with mk1 cable assembly. So, back to the question: is there a bigger inlet TB I can use and if so how much additional flow/perf is it likely to get?
when using the harness I stretch the standard seat belt behind the seat and clip it in or use the passenger seat belt and clip it in. It does away with the beeping (that goes after a few minutes anyway) but more importantly I suspect it keeps the ecu and steering wheel airbag happy. Not sure if...
owen developments had the cover off a week ago when fitting my unichip. Mark who did the work said its a real b**ch to get the cover off. On that sound word of advice that helps you absolutely not, I wish you best of luck dirty... if youre totally stuck, call mark at owen developments...
Ive got the two rear belts using the same anchorage point that used to retain the metal bar in the boot. I may get a custom bar produced thatll fit in the two anchorage points, on which I can properly fit my 4 point, as well as a passenger harness if I decide to do that too.
