172 gal, does the question relate to a measured lap time around a specific track/circuit or to straight line speed (if its the latter, Ill prob never know or care to find out). If were talking about a circuit lap, I can tell you that the same car lap times vary +/- 25% or more depending on...
I need the measurement of the diameter of the black elbow hose that connects the airbox to the throttle body. Looks like 10cm each end and I dont fancy disconnecting my bmc to measure up. Anybody done this recently and measured the hose diameter, or even better anybody replaced it with a shorter...
no details given. http://www.efjie.comwww.efjie.com, click on "distribution", select renault, scroll down to accessoires and there you have it. No piccies etc, but they say theyll happily take the car in do the single TB mod and cars good for 200+ (with ecu/breathing). dunno really. bout to...
tell me about it... getting engine mods on this stooooopid car is like extracting milk from an Iraqi camel in a sandstorm... Cant get anything and if you do discuss some stuff you invariably get the "ooooohh thats gonna cost" look. what a load of boll*x.
NOS wouldnt work for me as I get my...
mmm, there has to be... Efjie in France sell a mod with a single larger TB. They wouldnt say where they got it from, but claim its not reno. Mind you at the price might as well go for a proper individual TB setup.
Well, Ill have to stop at head/valve work and enjoy the summer on track. Looks...
i dont get the FBW issue. Its easy enough to make it back into a traditional cable throttle linkage and most TB conversions would do that anyway. If it wasnt FBW, is there a better TB in the Reno range that would fit the F4R then? Dont understand the V6 TB route either, isnt that for a V6...
I dont have this problem with my car, but I know it is a common fault and well known by Renautl. Theer is a useful french website called rs-team.org and they list this as one of the common faults on the 172. Just take it to your dealer and have it fixed under warranty
mmmm, end June,, so for a week or so Ill probs have the higher power NA 172 on the forum... are you going to take it on track this summer? If youre interested there are a few good value track days Im going to. Would be a laugh with your TBs .. PM me if youre game..
insurance for - erm, hhhmm, err : throttle bodies - oh yeah? who gives a rats a*se about your insurance you tease. Got some news for us or just fishing you sadistic sod? ;)
Oh I get it Rob, or I should say I got it as I am no longer interested in that type of car. Maybe Im now using my head as you say.. Anyway, no trying to debate this to death. I agree the Aston is a nice car.
I was addressing the point made by noel-pilot, re a DB& being categorically faster than a 172. My point is that at least under specific track/circuit conditions, an inline 6 DB7 wouldnt hold up to a 172. Thats all I was trying to say.
On the DB7 being a GT etc, I agree. On the XKS chassis...
you didnt get much of a response..
You can buy a replacement master cylinder from Oreca in France who supply competition parts for renaults among other makes. Their master cylinders are larger than the standard clio and would give you better performance. I dont know where renault warranty...
ive seen that picture for ages now, and it looks like a photoshop job. the detailing around the tailpipes looks a bit wonkey. the blurb Ive also seen with the above pic implies this "new" cup would have 180 hp to bring power up to the 206 gti.
R3OBC, nice work. Ive got the same k-tec on my cup, installed by k-tec. You may want to pull the rear box in a bit as the tailpipes stick out too much. when theyre all black youll end up fouling your trousers every time you open the boot etc. Id say an inch further back in.
Other than that, I...
noel-pilot, erm ehhm well yes a 172 is quicker than an original DB7. The original DB7 running the in line 6 cylinder engine developed about the same power as a the jag xjr (320, maybe nearer to 350) for a weight of 1700-1800Kg. Simple maths produce 177-194 bhp/ton. given the extra weight and...
hi 172Gal, before starting on the slippery road to mods (i.e financial oblivion) what are you looking for: increase in performance, noise, show etc. Have an honest think and the answers/advice we can give will be very different!
on a bang per buck basis IKs are a mostly a waste of money, but...
Ben, me experiment???? perish the thought ... Non Non Non, I would never ever do nuffink to my car. Im a shy blushing mod virgin.
ps. about to put the F4R head/valve debate to rest, the only way I know how... well discuss results post 21st...or maybe after the next proper outing ..... in the...
