it replaces the standard airbox with an uglier plastic-made-carbon-look airbox that has an itg panel filter in it - which you can get for the standard airbox - Dooooh
a lot of excitment about a length of decat pipe!
Wowwwie finally a "serious" mod on a 172/cup ARGGGHHMMPPFFFF (sound of me choking on my morning cuppa and jam toast..)
210 hp with a decat pipe, yaaawzaa, Ill have mine waxed today and maybe thatll get me 300 bhp
get real people and read...
well lets put it this way. did anybody buy a new "172", put in on the rollers when still newish (less than 5k) and in standard trim, and got anywhere near 172 bhp or more accurately anywhere near 148-150 at the wheels?
If not, Renault should consider changing the badging ...
for a new cup, i was offered £11.9k vs £12.9k, so you should be able to secure at least a grand off, about £12.7k or slightly better. The fact you want a silver/aircon will cost you slightly more cos you cant get an existing car
pre unichip and at 31 deg temp, car was at 139 ATW = 165bhp ATF (with IK + exhaust)
post unichip 152 ATW, 174.5 ATF again at 31 deg (4k miles on the car)
i.e you need to spend £500 or so to really get the bhp that Renault claimed you were buying with the car.

RT-ED dunno about standard HID torches, but if I have a 150m depth rated canister HID torch, it must be fairly easy to find a "standard" non-sub one. wouldnt know where to look though.?. Can help you for a diving torch anytime!
Cheers Ben. My mistake for not having done my homework properly before buying the cup. The cars great but there are no mods available for the F4R and were at the bleeding edge of development. When I think a Hartge cooper S develops 217 bhp from £163bhp for a measly £1.6k it makes me furious...
hi Ben,
Ill let you know what piper reckon after weve done some measurements. Head/cams is only phase 2 before fitting TBs, so I will get max benefit from this work.
2 good options for TBs, just comparing prices etc. But pretty much a certainty now, although not for this summer season. so...
yep my HID diving torch is 10W has 3.5 hours autonomy and produces more light than a 30W halogen torch which only has 70 mins autonomy.. Costs a bomb though, but hey, the "fishes" get a nice sun tan ;)
this is perfectly normal and with the windows down it happens on all 172 mk2s/cups around 6k revs. Originally I thought it was the injectors, but eventually narrowed it down to the airbox gulping in large volumes of air, because when I replaced my airbox it no longer made the noise - shame...
youre mixing up different types of systems. 172loony is right. proper "xenons" are high intensity discharge lamps that have no filament. the eason why they need more than just a bulb is that a complex condenser setup is used behind the bulb to create the very high voltages needed to create an...
thanks.
whats your view on having to switch to solid followers as a result of altering the cam profiles. General consensus is that you can stay with hydraulic followers up to about 10mm lift and that anything beyond that really requires solid followers.
if you want to tune the car, dont buy a clio. Get something with a K-series Rover for small power, a ford duratec for more or a vauxhall lump. Tuning a clio in the UK is not easy.
i want to add an oil pressure/temp sensor and move the filter. asking if somebodys done it. I guess not.
For TBs, access to the oil filter requires removal of the front bumper. i already change oil regularly and will be doing so more often
