I do agree that I'd never take 600 grit near the headlights, but if used wet and with care it could be taken down the grades and polished back up fine, as the guide shows. Don't follow the steps and it's going to go wrong, simple as that.
Are you a dealer by any chance? That's the only explanation you have for spouting this utter nonsense that all cars from dealerships are in tip top mint condition. I work in a bodyshop that does work for a large chain of dealerships and every salesman I have spoken to from there openly admits to...
Stand back from the car, get the whole car into the frame, then take the photo ;)
It does look good from the random angles we've seen in the pics though so nice one.
PMSL! At first glance it looks like someone has stolen the tyres! Even if you slam it the bumper is going to be touching tarmac before you'll get rid of that arch gap, please put some 17s or something on there!
Don't bother prepping the surface yourself. No decent bodyshop is going to trust a customer to prep anything properly, so they'll either go over it again making your effort pointless or they'll simply refuse to touch it. Leave it to the professionals.
Just stick a huge sub in there and replace the rattles with bass, that's how I cured it in my 1.2. Was amusing standing outside the car and listening to the rubstrips rattling against the quarters etc.
Drugs are bad, children.
They haven't even bothered their arse to clean it properly before taking pics for the advert, so I'm sure they've put a lot of effort into making sure it's a "m m m minted" example.
More of a gadget than anything else, it shows a fault on 99% of cars even when they're running fine. No idea how you managed it turning the wiper on and off as it's the trip computer button you hold in.
Just keeps on getting better this wee motor, kinda wish I'd kept my 1.2 and gone down the same route. Get those wheels to sit flush and it'll be even better.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this thread. 6 pages of someone asking for advice then sticking their fingers in their ears and going "LA LA LA LA LA". Awesome.
Old arch liners won't fit so you'll need the sport ones. Running no arch liners just looks tatty so I'd get them.
If it's still on standard wheels/suspension you'll also need to lower it at least 60mm and will need some spacers for the front wheels or it looks daft.
There is no MK4 yet, it's a MK3 PH2. You don't get xenons on any of them, you only get the standard halogens or the cornering projector headlights which are still haolgen.
An adult actually sent that message, over an internet forum to someone in another country, all because of a disagreement about how to lower a car? PMSL!
I'd pick the 1.2, you know how it's been treated and how it's been maintained from new, it's the logical choice. The tiny bit of speed/power difference doesn't warrant the extra risk buying the 1.4 you know nothing about, they're both slow anyway.
If you decide you don't want the 1.2 then buy a...
As above, I wouldn't worry too much apart from the fact when it comes to sell again it will put a lot of people off. Long as everything is up to scratch etc. Lot of people buy 172s and don't get along with the rattling, the heavyish clutch and steering, the lumpiness when cold etc. and sell them...
