TAG - im actually still a bit of a BTCC man as my loyalties always lie with the English.
It is interesting however to drive round the roads here and have quite a few standard v8s that most people drive get relatively close to keeping up with me in the 172. they just have grunt.
the other...
As for the furthest person from the UK I am a regular user of the site and am in sydney australia. left london 2 1/2 years ago and been here since.
welcome to the club mate - im only a 4 month ago addition and i love this place - so many good people!!!
martin
mate - very sorry to see the car looking like that.
again as everyone has said - great to see you came out from that one unscathed - particlarly considering the speed you quoted!!!!
as for the dangerous driving - hope that doesnt turn out too bad.
lol.
mate - if you think it makes you grin below 4k (which on mine is the point that it starts pulling at) then you will foooooookin love it when you get it above that.
i also remember the first time i drove one.
awwwww the memories..........
what about removing the bonnet? wouldnt that increase air intake or cool engine down? ror 1/4 miling it would be good - not so aerodynamic for the top speed though.
gary - suppose it comes down to whether youre bothered about ABS?
all the other stuff are creature comforts - and that all depends on whether you want them or not.
ABS is a bit more of an emotive subject though.
boys i live in australia so have to put up with this sh*t 9 months a year (though it isnt all bad news when your lying on the beach at bondi/bronte sunbathing next to some topless model).
At the moment it is winter and my car is FLYING - nothing like cold nights for a thrash!!!
but come the...
its a beautiful car - theres no taking away from that!!!!
Its just whether you feel rushed into it or not? If you do..........then try and buy some time with the sales guy. However if you dont feel rushed and think you are making a sensible decision - buy it!!!!!!!!!
It looks soooo good as...
Rhys,
So sorry to hear of the news!!! That feeling when you come out and its not there - f*ck thats horrible.
Like others have said - sorry i cant do anything to help chief. So annoying. Keep your chin up, another door will open (hopefully to another car).
as for jonm - a real...
mate - welcome back!!!
that is the "original" beast - and im pretty jealous. Sounds in good nick as well.
I would have got one of those if id have found a good one round the traps, however I just couldnt. Ended up getting a 172 Mk2.
enjoy the thrashing.:D
Mini Cooper - lets just clarify to those ignorant general public who Ive heard call it a hot hatch - it isnt!!
The Cooper S is a warm-hot hatch, with the Cooper s works, or the Cooper S Hartge being a hot-scorching hatch!!!
mate - like it as it is to be honest. looks nice.
agree with white16valver - less is more - keep it simple. you dont want to end up looking too contrived.
and we LLLLLOOOOOOVVVVEEEEEEE rounded rear ends now dont we!!!!!!
sorry - just got a little carried away there.
nosh - im warming to the idea of a pink clio. what type of pink are you thinking of?
mate - very sorry to hear that. At least you are ok and will live to drive another 172. My cars still off the road due to being fixed after it was hit by another car. fookin horrible waiting for it to come back.
if you get a chance - let me know what happened - were you just going too fast, or...
surely it must be a wind-up?
It runs against logic to comment on anything as a newcomer, because firstly, you have no respect (because you havent proven anything yet to build it up), and secondly, no one older than 15 makes personal comments about anyone else.
scally - are you sure youre old...
That is the funniest thread ever!!!!:D
lol at:
dj illusion
alymac
neil82 cup
white16valver
Clio Kate - do you have airbags?
The reason I ask is Im not sure if 1.2s have them.......;)
mate - I was in your position about 4 months ago, and had a look through the posts and found out what it was.
basically do a search for the "4k rattle" or "exhaust rattle" or something like that and youll see the results.
In short, it is a problem that most 172s encounter with the midsection...
spoke to the panel beaters today - it goes into the paintwork dept early next week so should be ready by next friday!!!!!
bet it falls through though and its not available until the next week.
whatever - i will b happy to have it back!!!
enjoy the thrashing and tell me if you get any...
mate - id heard it was the heatshield at one point as well. thing is that they said it was the heat shield rubbing against something - when i asked the mechanic to check this they said it was fine on my car - so to be honest I cant help on that one!!!
like i said - i heard it was either...
yeah - first match was like a battle field!!!! Blues are playing well arenbt they!
good nickname mate - made me laugh when i first saw it.
yeah - the forum is not bad in oz - bit less of a racers forum and more of a chat...............but thats cool as well. some nice people on it.
big...
paddy - does that blonde come with the car?;)
to the original question - the 172 seems to handle really well and i think the thing that sets it apart from most of the wannabes is that it lets you know what it is doing and then allows you to correct it really easily.
a top car
Here is Australia the idea of a car without aircon is a joke. Iv lived in uk all of my life until i came here 2 years ago.
I would definately not buy a car without aircon here - gets soooooo hot. Same situation here with a lack of more twisty roads (in general).
thats why the Mk2 cup has...
