probably not alot of help, but with my previous (old) epson printers, if i didn't use them for quite a while then the print heads block up beyond use. no amount of cleaning would sort it, and as you have found.. it uses a shed load of ink to do. I think you can get some cleaning solution type...

we use flagstone encrypted hard drives. They have their problems.. you need to remember to diable hibernation as the drives don't support it (locks up & blue screens) I've heard western digital do a similar product... if you really need to go that far that is.
