WHAT WIRELESS ROUTER ?

My dad is after a wireless router so he can connect to internet with his laptop anywhere in house rather than using a Lan Cable from modem.

Does anyone know which one would be a decent for less than £100 ?

It would have to be compatible with there talk talk modem if that makes sense :S

Or would a router just replace the modem ?

You need an ADSL wireless router as talk talk is on a BT line. The router also acts as a modem aswell so you would just need the router.

After using about every ADSL modem or ADSL router, I'm convinced that this:

... is about as good as it gets for the money. I use them in full no-nat mode with Cisco routers or firewalls behind them, I've used them doing full NAT for the network.. and nothing comes as close in terms of cost/stability.

Otherwise, you need to look at the Cisco 857w or 877w for a higher end router.

Yeah I have used a few different brands of routers and have always preferred a Netgear

Same here, I use them at work as non-Nat and at home with NAT great performing router. Probs one of the best to work with low snr aswell.

They're high end ADSL routers.

For home use, that Netgear is about as good as it gets for the money/performance

im currently using a netgear setup. seems to be fine, reliable and fast. Do not buy a D-link one. ive had two and both have stopped working after a while and i had issues with it disconnecting all the time etc.

another vote for the netgear, i have the older version of the one linked above, with a separate Netgear Wireless AP & it's been working perfectly for the many years i have had it.
