    The Potential End..

Very nice, makes me miss my 172, still loved the thing even though I had no luck with it.

    r26 progress thread.

Sorry but that sounds horrendous! Sounds exactly like the 1.2 Corsa we had in at work today with no backbox as it fell off.

    Coilovers fitted tomorrow. How low?

TBH I'd get them fitted, go home, play about with the height till your happy, let it settle then get them set up.

    an £11k silly-car!

Are you trying to say that's tastefully modified? It has a sh*t bodykit, shopping trolley wheels and needs lowered about 3 feet.

    Wet sanding basecoat?

Don't need to sand basecoat unless you make a bit of a mess of it. Any little bits of dust that stick to the basecoat should disappear once you lacquer. Doesn't matter how well you prep it, with rattle tins you still won't get a perfect finish without wet sanding and polishing it once lacquered.

    Alloys refurbed at topmarques, Stock-on-Trent

You sound like a joy to deal with.

    Alloys refurbed at topmarques, Stock-on-Trent

What they've done is fair enough tbh, mistakes happen and things do go wrong sometimes, at least they held their hands up and admitted it and were willing to rectify it.

    ROTA Haters... Look in.

They mainly get hate on here because they're cheap copies of other more expensive wheel designs, not because of any doubts with the quality of them.

    What mk/phase is a 59' Clio GT?

MK3 phase 2 on here. A lot of Ebay shops will call it a MK4, possibly even a MK5 so best to look at the years they state it will fit rather than the model.

    Finally got me a 172 :D

Nice one, be careful with it for a bit. Be warned, coming from a 1.4, the first time you give it full chat through 2nd you will more than likely poo yourself, followed by giggling like a schoolgirl lol

    Failed Bonnet Catch @ 85MPH

LOL @ people disagreeing with one person who is a Renault Tech, and the other who IIRC worked at Renault for many years. Pretty sure it was down to poor maintenance that all these catches started failing anyway?

    172 mapped for 97 RON

No, it isn't. As you were told in the other thread, the CAF is doing nothing. At all.

    Wednesday 18th August - Camera meat/Night pics

Is this for the folk who are handy with a camera only? Or can a relative n00b with a PH-Ugly turn up aswell? :o

    The Bora.

You're meant to high build prime over the top of etch primer, ideally. Etch just acts as a middle man as high build doesn't like sticking to bare metal. Etch sticks to metal, high build sticks to the etch. Kinda sounds like you've not left one of the coats to dry properly though, if one doesn't...

    For the NoClueCrew (NCC)

Love it, although there's a bit too much tuck for me at the rear.

    Samsung Galaxy..

I've no idea how anyone can break anything Samsung. Everything Samsung I've had/my mates have had have been indestructible, even after getting dropped in 3m deep swimming pools, going through the washing machine, getting covered in paint/thinners/catty dust at my work, they still work spot on.

I f**king Hate Clios As Well.

There are more relays under the glovebox, 4 I think, one of them controls the rear lights and dash lights so might be worth having a fiddle in there. EDIT: Too slow lol

    Parkers reviews mean nothing.

    Few adjustments :)

Like it a lot better now, just closing up the arch gap and no more = perfect height. 1.2s are made for slamming, who cares what people say in the GC thread. Lose the bra though IMO.

    Best Mods For 2500 For A 197

You probably won't get much in the way of power gains from that sort of money, might be able to stretch to ITBs (just) if you do the work yourself. As Brett said I'd be going for some top notch coilovers first of all.

    Approx Repair Cost???

Can't blow in the quarter panel, would need to do the lot. I'd expect it to be about £400-£450 where I work.

    Any info on this folks?

It needs both the cambelt and auxiliary belt changing, if there's no record of it being done already, which is anything from £400 upwards.

£3,500 for a new car, what Clio to buy?

I'd rather have a mint PH1 for that price if it was me.

    Induction Kit is MENTAL!

Speaking seriously for a change, I seriously doubt the standard airbox is as restrictive as you think it is. Generally Renault get it right with their induction set ups on their hot hatches, as shown by their being little to no gain to be had out of the 1*2 lump by changing the airbox. I'd bet a...

Bit of a Clean! *FRP Content* Long Detailing Read!!!***

It defo does turn heads, mainly due to how wide the thing is! Was sounding lovely crackling and popping at the lights just after leaving Chatelherault on wed.

    Induction Kit is MENTAL!

That heat shield is doing precisely feck all, same as the CAF will do feck all when it's fitted too. It must sound pretty good though.
