I have a question regarding the feature.
Did you find out why the valve was found to be weak? - Was this a knock on effect from the cambelt / loose bolt incident?
The block i mean. The block i have is cracked basically but i want to know if you can buy the block minus pistons, crack, oil pump etc basically just the external shell?
Im guessing that its going to be far easier buying a complete bottom end in tact, stripping it down and working from there...
38mpg is classed as average according to Renault with these.
Unless its very heavy constant city traffic, anything low 30's or under and my guess would be a problem.
I can sit at a constant 90 on a modded engine and it never dip below mid 30's. My average is book figure all in all.
As...
Are these available on their own and if so what kind of price?
Bought a engine years back with a cracked water housing so all the internal components are fine, just not the block casing.
Wayyyy in the future id like to build up a stronger low compression bottom end.
Modded engine, over 110k on the original box and no problems. Was a little notchy a while back but this was to do with a slightly different grade of oil we put in.
If you stick the correct grade of oil in, use the clutch ;) and dont do harsh shift downs then their fine.
Fines in my local rag for no insurance are 150 quid and a slap on the wrist.
Police have better things to do than hunt out illegal mods on cars and going to court due to a techy between a insurance company and a customer - dont be silly.
If he crashes with the mods on and dosent tell the...
Some maths on insurance:
Q) - You crash your car say. What happens to the car after the accident but prior to putting a claim in??
A) = time
Induction kit, yes but foam filter..............
Probably because it was needing set up? (mapped) - mine came with a ph1 airbox standard, Viper was a big improvement over that, (mapped) then had to bin it and got a Maxogen and that improved top end pull over the Viper.
If you fit one and the cars running 'normal' then its not working right...
For normal to pretty spirited wet driving iv never found them to be a problem, or certainly nothing that indicates their any worse than the other well known makes. The way folk were talking they make out their like slicks haha :o
Best tyre iv ever had fitted to the Clio by a mile!!
Their wear rate is superb, awsome standing start grip and never had a problem with the wet grip, something of which i was worried about prior to buying. Infact, for road use, i find they grip a lot better than Eagle F1's in the wet!
**Symon: Retro fitted??
Reason i asked if yours was a non sport was i thought Clio 172's first went into production in 2000 with the reg plates starting off on W. Never heard of a V plate 172 :S
All ph1's came with CD autochangers as standard. It was never a option.
I remember not long after buying the car i asked the dealers why my motor never had a shift light as stated in the brochure.
They had a look on their computers and up popped a circular from Renault stating that from X date, the shift light was to be discontinued.
Probably the same with the...
