Sorry to crash the thread but while on the subject, always wanted to know this but why is it important to keep the same cam cover that comes with the head if the basic cams and parts are all generic?
Been a spin in RS Tunings Supercharged Clio when it was sitting at 270ish bhp and i never noticed supercharger noices, whistles or whines etc. Think youve been listening too much to Cooper S's ;)
Acceleration of the thing was unreal all the way up to ....... Turbo's going to suffer some kind...
Most big name insurance companys seem to be up to this scam of high renewal price, lower online quote.
Iv had the same farce with my motors but with a different company.
Its all designed to squeeze a bit more out of you hoping you dont bother to check up. Good plan really as a lot of folk...
Not sure but theres loads on here running well over factory figures and a good few running close to 150bhp over stock and they dont seem to have problems.
Might not be the strongest box ever built but the weakness of it seems to have been blown out of all proportion.
Fine yes. Going Ktec will save you a lot of messing.
If your buying their link / decat pipe too then it means you dont have to weld anything when doing a 182 manifold conversion as everything is measured to fit.
Id buy a Ktec. Decent enough system, not loud and still a 2.5'' bore plus has the front slider pipe if you choose to fit a 182 manifold conversion.
Good discount on here too.
You got to remember a hell of a lot of folk on here hammer their Clio's on track days every weekend then post up findings and experiences which come under the heading ''road car'' which is slightly unfair and no way a true reflection of normal to spirited driven road car.
All a myth is this...
Waste of money spending 400 on a exhaust and not decating it imo. You'd get more gains from the decat alone for just over the wrong side of 100 sheets. Exhaust on with cat will only give you noise.
Yozza is a VERY loud exhaust too (race system)
Too right it was! Couldnt get near it for the crowds of folk where ever it went lol
Total legend of a motor and probably set a president of Clio tuning as a whole tbh
From reading on here, did the driver not have a few hairy (as in dangerous) moments with it up the strip?
Something to do with the driveshafts not being equal? Might be talking shite but just going from memory lol
Tune it just up to the point of traction loss. Its ok having big power but...
Ferado's, full set of rear pads 12 quid from Halfords
Eurocar part rear discs come with the ABS ring but doubt they have the bearings pressed in plus aint genuine (obviously)
Doubt the ebay ones would be genuine plus the cheap ones dont usually have the bearings and ABS rings pressed into them which is extra hassle and expence.
Also theres postage to think about :)
Just bought a pair of rear 172 brake discs for £86.45 (£99.42 inc VAT) from a main Renault dealers.
These include the ABS rings etc already on. Bolt them up job done away you go.
Same discs from Renault a year back were £170 and still are on a few well known tuning sites i see ;)...
Renault might spend millions but certainly where a 172 is concerned it can be bettered by simply throwing on some 130 quid Eibach springs!
Reason why that is Renault have to compromise between ride and handling, you mod the suspension your shifting the balance away from comfort over to handling
Iv read them too but if you flip the coin theres equally as many running way way above stock power without probs, loads running over 100k on the clock and half the forum thrash the nuts off them every sunday on a track day again without probs.
Im not saying its the strongest box but theres a...
This gearbox weakness lark is the biggest myth going imo
Theres a charged ph1 running 300+ and no probs. Countless turbo'd and TB'd ones pumping mid to late 200's again without probs. Its how its looked after and driven thats key imo
But thats boring. Theres nothing better than a wee Clio turning over something it shouldnt. It really really winds up the 'opposition' when you do which makes it all the more satisifying  - no one likes to be done by French :D
Forget cams and ITB's just now imo. Hang on till the...
0-100 is a better calculation of performance or better still, quarter mile
You could get a 0-60 of 6.5 in your Skyline but thats only because its sat there spinning its chuff rather than lack of grunt
Good point. Ph2 bumper sticks out especially towards the bottom so gives the wheel the effect of sitting further in the arch. (bad look)
ph2 stuff on a ph1 is a bit like dating Pamela Anderson then dumping her for a chick who walks about wearing a Pamela Anderson mask :dead::o
Ph1's should be left looking like ph1's imo - Look miles better in standard trim, simple, clean and light looking.
Ph2 lights look chav and the ph2 bumper looks like a 1.2's
Yourself and a mate yes. Job for 2 folk but with axle stands you should be able to manage it.
Week in bed with a strained back after for the guy working via the top lol
Might be worth waiting a couple of months anyway because if the new Super cup inlet / plenum is as good as initial reports suggest they'll be a massive off load of pre done matched inlets on the 2nd hand market.
