    Cambelt...

250ish would be a dream haha - Prices range from 400's to nearly a grand depending on where you live (Renault dealers) Back street garages are dodgy. Too many miss timed Clio's kicking about due to lack of knowledge and incorrect special tools for the job. Best bet it to shop about at...

    Inlet Manifold

RS Inlet is meant to be a slightly better cast factory vs say the stock 172 one. The process of porting only takes any inlet up to the size of the stock gasket so as a result ALL inlets will be the same after porting. Unless your running stock inlets in which case the RS would be the...

    Engine Oil

Wrong way round is it not? Lower the number thinner the weight 15W 50 will be far thicker stuff compared to 5W 40 ?

Oh My God What a Day. Dephaser Pulley anyone!!!!

Ah thats a totally different ball game then. You never mentioned the depahaser had been replaced prior :) Was assuming going by your opening post you only had a belt change and was pee'd off at the fact they never spotted it was worn or wearing 4k's back Give them hell

Oh My God What a Day. Dephaser Pulley anyone!!!!

Why would he have a right to claim for anything? He got his cambelt done 4 thousand miles back. Thats like 4 - 6 months of motoring for the average person. A lot can happen in that time and theres no proof that there was anything wrong or wearing with the depahser at the time of cambelt...

    ptfe gaskets what are they?

Theres a big thread on this somewhere. Have a search for the details matey. Theory is good but in reality does it make any difference to performance, honestly?

    Creeking Noise- Any ideas?

Lube the bushes and top mounts as mentioned. Shouldnt need to take anything apart unless really bad. Dont lube with WD40 either as it drys rubber out

    Inlet Manifold

It makes no difference what so ever what inlet you have if your porting mate. RS inlet is said to be better cast out the box, thats all. :)

    Loud Squeak above 80mph

Flic the windscreen wipers when it does it to see if its that. This is what causes mine to whistle.

    Inlet Manifold

The worse the cast, the better for the porter and final result. Only worth getting a RS stamped inlet if your not going to do any port matching

172 splutter hesitation around 2000 rpm

Kangarooing? Loose Map sensor wire is another potential. Happend to me years back

    which cams???

Sound advice imo. Save the money towards a supercharger kit or even ktec turbo. Too much effort and far better options than cams and TB's these days imo

    K&N 57i - Extra Insurance Premium

Technically insurance should be cheaper with a K&N due to the fact the car actually looses power with one fitted ;) Yes you should tell them you have it fitted

whats the litre of gearbox oil the clio sport 172 ph2 can take ! advice asap

    Help 8mm sump removal tool

As most others have said yes Halfords sell it. They also sell a universal spanner type thing with lots of different size squares coming off it (blue in colour) so not sure why this was such a struggle lol

    New Focus RS lowerred

Agree. Bit silly and obvious leaving the locking nut in the glove box but suppose its one of those things you dont think will ever happen.. Would have thought it would have had a anti-jacking alarm. Clio does factory fit and your talking a 8,9 year old technology!

    cv boot clips

Why did you price up a whole new shaft ?? :S
  27. A

    Difficulty getting into gear.

Stage one, change the gearbox oil and with the correct stuff. Its the owners that kill these boxes, not poor design or build
  28. A

    cold air

All down to personal choice but the K&N is regarded as garbage being a open type kit. Maxogen, CDA, Viper.
  29. A

    Remap Complete!

Nice of them to give you your cash back tho. Did they say it will take 50 miles to return back to normal :rasp:

    cv boot clips

Same here. This is what Renault dealers use too when a car comes in for a service with the same problem apparently. (saves ordering a part and does a better long term job) Top up with special CV greese if needed and as already mentioned if split, new boot time
